Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

With all the focus on the glitz of the gowns at the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival, it’s easy to overlook the handsome group of guys who are also making the rounds in Cannes and beyond. Here’s a highlight of some of their looks.

Channing Tatum: The actor-hunk joined the glamorous set at the Cannes Film Festival ‘Foxcatcher’ premiere on Monday (May 19). He was incredibly dapper in a Gucci black peak lapel, one-button Signoria tuxedo with a white evening shirt, black silk bowtie and black patent leather lace-up shoes.

John Legend: Accompanying Chrissy Teigen at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 18) in Las Vegas, Nevada, the singer also stood out in a Gucci Spring/Summer 2014 notch-lapel, two-button new palma jacket in a navy print, paired with a matching navy printed cotton shirt, dark Lanvin trousers, Jimmy Choo shoes and a Piaget watch.

Robert Pattinson: At the ‘Maps To The Stars’ Cannes Film Festival premiere on Monday (May 19), the actor again opted for black, donning a Dior Homme wool and silk satin two-button tuxedo, an oxford cotton shirt, a silk grosgrain tie, and black leather shoes. Despite the monochromatic statement, this polished look had me just as captivated as a colourful one would.

Evan Peters: Taking plaid out for a spin, the edgy actor wore a dark patterned suit from the Heirloom Collection by Billy Reid, when he attended HBO’s ‘The Normal Heart’ premiere on Monday (May 19) in Beverly Hills, California. The look was slightly enlivened by a forest-green tie.

Steve Carell: Joining Robert Pattinson at the ‘Foxcatcher’ premiere, the funny man debuted a more serious sartorial statement with his elegant black Giorgio Armani tux. However, the mix between the small bowtie, fitted jacket and baggy pants gave me a slight giggle.

James McAvoy: Skipping the tie, the ‘X-Men’ actor was at ‘The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby’ Cannes Film Festival photo call on Sunday (May 18), where he also embraced the navy-blue trend in his Burberry Tailoring three-piece suit. Perhaps his shoes needed a polish, but this was still a refined, yet relaxed, outing for the star.

Robert is killing it. He looks fantastic and it;s nice to see him in Dior for a change. Channing also looks very dapper and classic.

James McAvoy, with Robert a close second.

Except for the shoes, James McAvoy looks great. I’m always a sucker for a 3-piece.

But I think the unkempt shoes hurt the overall sharpness of the look, so I’ll save my applause for Robert Pattinson and Channing Tatum.

Love the colors John Legend is using but the sleeves and pants are too tight, nothing but creases all the way.

Channing, Rob and James are my favourites here.

My 3 favourites as well. Although I think I’m biased because they’re so gorgeous!

FC you must have missed this yesterday, but I remember you joined the Pattinson Swoon Train towards the end of 2011. Are you still on board? 😉 If so, you joined the many non-Twihards like myself who are aboard too.

I am glad he finally wore Dior Homme. It’s a little late coming, being the face of the brand and all.

Unlike Ben Affleck or Brad Pitt, Rob looks handsome no matter how scruffy or ‘Just Exited a Porter Potty at a Rock Concert’ his look is. It’s unfair.

Channing Tatum has a boring sense of style, as great a guy as he is.

    John is stylish as always.

Robert Pattinson is my favorite, then I like James McAvoy, even if I agree with you, FC, about the shoes. I can’t believe Steve Carell’s tux is Armani, the fit is ridiculous!
