Marion Cotillard In Maison Martin Margiela Couture – ‘Two Days, One Night’ Cannes Film Festival Photocall

Marion Cotillard In Maison Martin Margiela Couture - 'Two Days, One Night' Cannes Film Festival Photocall

Marion Cotillard made her first appearance at the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival this morning (May 20) for the ‘Two Days, One Night’ photocall in Cannes, France.

The French actress is sure to wear Dior for tonight’s premiere, which is a safer bet than Monica Bellucci wearing a black Dolce & Gabbana dress, so she opted to showcase her style in a more vibrant way at this morning’s event.

Wearing a fully beaded multi-coloured high-neck Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2014 Couture dress, this, I believe, is the real Marion.

She loves to take a risk and step outside the box, when given free rein. The Mary Katrantzou frock she wore recently is a testament to that fact.

This look is interesting to say the least. I can’t say I love the look 100%, but I’m thankful it’s not a tent dress.

I kinda like the dress but the boots make the whole look very heavy and fall-like.

I like the dress a lot, but the shoes have got to go. Not crazy about that hair either.

I’m just happy she’s not wearing Dior! Even if it’s for a few seconds! Hopefully, Dior made her a custom look for tonight! Though I highly doubt it!

  4. Christine May 20, 2014 at 11:44 #

I like this sweet but edgy look. Boots included! Something different and refreshing other than Dior

  5. Alina May 20, 2014 at 11:46 #

I think the dress is a little too short and I don’t like the hairstyle.

    I’m literally scared for tonight.

Ok…I’m just going to say it…I think she has horrible style! I’m not even going to blame it on Dior anymore because even when she doesn’t wear Dior, it’s still bad.
    She doesn’t

I never like the pieces she picks and she she styles them horribly.
    This is no exception…

I think this is pretty unflattering. Maybe it’s that hairstyle and the neckline?

    • kate May 20, 2014 at 16:03 #

That’s what I was thinking. I love the beaded details, but something just isn’t right. I also don’t love the boots with this look.

  9. justme May 20, 2014 at 11:53 #

Marion wants to be edgy but I’m not sure she genuinely is. That’s the only explanation to why her looks are never quite right for me.

  10. Charlotte May 20, 2014 at 11:54 #

The dress is way too short and it makes her look much wider than she is !
    Still, it’s a interesting look.

If this is the real Marion, then I’m underwhelmed. Not feeling the hair, the dress is too short and shapeless, the boots somewhat random esp for Cannes. The only thing keeping me awake is the print, and that just barely. Meh.

I LOVE this look because is so unexpected. The dress is a little work of art and the boots bring some edge to the whole.

Love this look, love the peeptoe booties with it, praying for the Dior endorsement deal to be over because she’s such a fun fashion plate otherwise

  14. Alice May 20, 2014 at 12:40 #

Don’t love the shoes with it…

Also is it just me or us that dress a little too short?

  15. Britta May 20, 2014 at 13:02 #

I love the combination of feminine and edgy – girlie and tough! I love her! Nobody is like her!

  16. dee May 20, 2014 at 13:48 #

I like this look even though I think it’s too short. I like the boots with it and her hairstyle.

  17. Noemi May 20, 2014 at 14:10 #

I don’t like the styling. I quite dislike open-toe booties and these are too heavy. The woman has a strange taste when it comes to hairstyles.

  18. Marybeth May 20, 2014 at 14:17 #

I dislike everything about this look except the make-up. The dress is heavy and shapeless; the super-short length only adds to the boxiness.
The shoes are clunky and wintry.
    The hair borders on silly.
For me, this is a big NO.

I have to say I really don’t understand this hairstyle–so many of the european actresses/celebs do this–Marion, Diane Kreuger, Heidi Klum. These nobby styles are NOT flattering.

Now that I have that off my chest, the dress is interesting and I see the appeal, but it doesn’t flatter her. I like it with the booties–in fact the booties are the best thing here.

I actually love this look. The dress is amazing. Just not sure if I 100% love it for Cannes.

  21. Joy May 20, 2014 at 17:23 #

I absolutely love this, but she’s one of my favs so I know I’m biased. I love the booties and the dress is pure awesome.

  22. Petra May 20, 2014 at 17:57 #

I’m blown away. This is sooo good! The dress is a piece of art and paired with those booties, it really makes a statement. Amazing! I’d love to see her in more edgy pieces like this one

  23. Ivan May 20, 2014 at 18:36 #

J’aime this look, it’s so refreshing to see Marion put-off her Dior. Well if she’s gonna wear Dior on premier nite, hopefully she gets the custom outfit. Not those (sorry) trashy couture pieces.

  24. Eimear May 21, 2014 at 00:15 #

    Does she ever age??!

  25. Grace Patricia May 21, 2014 at 01:35 #

Way too short but I like it.

  26. Luvergrrl May 21, 2014 at 04:11 #

My 1st thought was”thank you for wearing margiela” because I *love* that label! and the 2nd was “doesn’t it hurt to sit on those beads?” More of a desk-jockey than an a-lister concern though…

  27. EmmaWoodhouse May 22, 2014 at 02:01 #

Cool beading, but I don’t like anything else. And after seeing tonight…*sigh*
