Zhang Ziyi In Rubin Singer – ‘The Crossing’ Cannes Film Festival Party

Zhang Ziyi In Rubin Singer - 'The Crossing' Cannes Film Festival Party

Actress Zhang Ziyi took to the red carpet on day four (May 17) of the Cannes Film Festival as she attended the party for new film ‘The Crossing’.

Steering away from her usual monochromatic and understated palette, Zhang brought a welcome pop of colour in a canary yellow Rubin Singer long-sleeved column dress which highlighted her elegantly lean figure.

Zhang added an unexpected hit of colour in the form of a red perspex box bag and finished the look with a sparkling cocktail ring and huge drop earrings. While these accessories are all great in their own right, all together they jar and I’m not sure the mix of modern and traditional works too well.

I must admit, I’m not blown away by this look. While her complexion is flawless and it is undoubtedly a polished look, I can’t help but feel like this dress looks is a little dated, and I can’t really get on board with the ruching around the shoulder pads.

But what do you think?

It looks a bit Alexis Carrington in Dynasty

I said the same thing as soon as I saw here. Those shoulder pads, and that nipped waist put this outfit firmly in the Dynasty era. If she’d worn her hair down and blown out, I would’ve expected to see Linda Evans coming around the corner.

Great colour, love the contrast with the bag, a refreshing look.

I feel this looks like a mother-of-the-bride outfit from de 90′s.

But I do like her make-up.

She pulls off yellow well but I don’t like the dress. The red bag…hmm…jury’s out for me.
