Jessica Chastain In Atelier Versace – ‘The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Jessica Chastain In Atelier Versace - 'The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Jessica Chastain attended the Cannes Film Festival premiere for ‘The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby’ this evening (May 17).

The actress wore a stunning Atelier Versace gown; what’s more, the colour was electric blue: my favourite.

Regular readers will not be surprised to hear that this ensemble left me completely breathless.

The bold colour was a great choice to stand out on the red carpet for a busy evening premiere, but also a great colour for Jessica’s skin tone.

Cut with an asymmetrical neckline and draped to perfection, this look is a non-negotiable on my BDOTY list.

She has never looked more radiant, and that is quite a feat considering she’s had many great moments.

Of course there was no clutch, just stunning jewels, matching Roger Vivier heels, perfect coiffed tresses à la Veronica Lake, and a beautiful red lip to match her polish.

Repeat after me: ‘We are not worthy’.

I LOVE everything about this outfit, if only she had smiled…

    • justme May 17, 2014 at 22:27 #

      • Catherine Kallon May 17, 2014 at 23:17 #

I don’t absolutely love this gown, but you have to hand it to Versace, they make a red carpet gown bar none.

Flawless, stunning, perfection.. Need I continue?! This is just the definition of old Hollywood glamour. That color is gorgeous on her skin tone. BDOTY

  6. vanillarose May 17, 2014 at 22:17 #

Oh my God, I think I just died! She looks UNBELIEVABLE!

  7. Elle May 17, 2014 at 22:19 #

YES. Oh God, yes. The close-up of her looks like it should be made into a painting!

  8. Papiki May 17, 2014 at 22:19 #

    Dreamy! I want more!

  9. Marybeth May 17, 2014 at 22:22 #

    Wow.
    Absolutely gorgeous!
This reminds me of the blue Roland Mouret she wore to Baftas (?) a year ago, which I adored, but this is bigger and more glamourous —Cannes-worthy!

    • Nat39 May 17, 2014 at 23:07 #

If I had to complain about something, that would be the fact that the look is, indeed, very much in the same ballpark as her Baftas last year, exactly, nothing we haven’t seen from her. What I loved about her last year’s purple Givenchy (that made my BDOTY list), is that it was such a striking, bold, unexpected choice from her, there was a major knockout factor there. It’s not here for me, unfortunately, b/c of the deja vu vibe, but there is no denying it’s another gorgeous look from her.

  10. shontay May 17, 2014 at 22:23 #

I think this is her best look ever. I love her as an actress, so I’m always so excited when she gets it right.

  11. justme May 17, 2014 at 22:26 #

    She looks splendid.

  12. dee May 17, 2014 at 22:26 #

The close up she is stunning but I don’t like this gown. I want to like it but it looks like too much fabric at the hip area. I doth like the puckering there. The color is gorgeous. She looks glamourous.

    • dee May 17, 2014 at 22:26 #

      Don’t not doth.

    • dee May 17, 2014 at 22:27 #

It’s the pleating not puckering at the hip that bothers me.

    • jones19 May 19, 2014 at 15:28 #

      Agreed. Her backside looks huge.

  13. Fer May 17, 2014 at 22:28 #

    Oh Cannes. Thank you.

First Blake Lively in that, unique black and white Gucci gown, and then this… after an apparently endless sea of good red carpet looks over this past few months, now I am wowed, completely stunned.

    Lupita N’yongo’s green Dior dress.
Blake Lively’s black and white Gucci dress
    and this.

My BDOTY list is getting its shape.

  14. Jori May 17, 2014 at 22:31 #

No words for this. Absolutely stunning.

    • Christine May 18, 2014 at 02:28 #

Speechless too. That blue is HEAVENLY!!!!

  15. Tamia May 17, 2014 at 22:35 #

Great, but would be perfect if it was tighter around the waist to emphasise the folds at the side.

  16. Joy May 17, 2014 at 22:38 #

We are most definitely not worthy. I think that a lot with all these gorgeous gowns that have been worn lately.

This dress is perfection. I’ve been so excited lately, I feel like I’m out of adjectives. Jessica is stunning and I will have to make some room on my quickly growing list for BDOTY.

  17. sharon May 17, 2014 at 22:50 #

No doubt this is a great luk but. I hope fc u wont b biased wen deciding BDOTD because i think Frieda was breathtaking……

    • Catherine Kallon May 17, 2014 at 23:16 #

So do you want me to pick your choice? I thought I was supposed to pick my own.

  18. Nat39 May 17, 2014 at 22:51 #

This is truly stunning. Jessica is the queen, 2nd year in a row she doesn’t disappoint – last year it was her striking purple Givenchy that made my BDOTY list and now this (!) She is a vision in blue.

  19. Yeliz May 17, 2014 at 22:51 #

I knew that she wouldn’t play it safe on the Cannes red carpet. But I have to say it’s a different gown and I have to get used to it. I mean the hip area is bothering me a bit, it makes her wider than she normally is. But the colour of the gown is divine on her and her styling is also beautiful, I’m just not completely sold yet.

  20. Pedro May 17, 2014 at 22:58 #

She looks fantastic but BDOTY? I don’t think so…

Gorgeous color, amazing hair, flawless make up, epic woman and great dress… great, not perfect!

I don’t feel the greatness if this. For me it’s just OK

    • Lashae May 18, 2014 at 02:54 #

ia. She looks really great for BDOTW but not BDOTY.

  21. pinksugar May 17, 2014 at 23:03 #

I am speechless at the perfection before me. Every inch of her looks on point. Red carpet Queen once again.

  22. Catherine May 17, 2014 at 23:05 #

So beautiful! I love Jessica Chastain and her red carpet style, and this color is gorgeous. Love the earrings, too! Amazing, perfect, BDOTY!

  23. Hannah May 17, 2014 at 23:14 #

I’m speachless – this dress and it’s colour – pure perfection!

  24. TL May 17, 2014 at 23:20 #

This will definitely be in my BDOTY list. She looks absolutely amazing. Perfection

  25. CTgirl May 17, 2014 at 23:30 #

    Gorgeous. BDOTY worthy.

  26. amy May 17, 2014 at 23:30 #

the color of the dress is beautiful but I’m not a fan of the shape. too much fabric at the waist.

  27. Britta May 17, 2014 at 23:30 #

Jaw dropping, exquisite, stunning – certainly one of the best looks so far this year!

  28. Aatis May 17, 2014 at 23:51 #

Reminds me her Roland Mouret gown @ last year BAFTA http://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/2013/02/10/jessica-chastain-in-roland-mouret-2013-bafta-awards/

    • dee May 18, 2014 at 01:00 #

Yes and that gown is flattering on her figure. This one not so much.

  29. Cássia May 18, 2014 at 00:22 #

OMG! This color suits her so well, these flame locks… just divine!

  30. Valissa May 18, 2014 at 00:28 #

I was slightly disappointed with this so I searched for more photos and noticed that the dress looked much better in motion.
I still don’t know how I feel about it though…it’s a great colour and she looks beautiful so overall it’s a good red carpet moment…just not jaw-droppingly amazing

  31. Allie May 18, 2014 at 00:29 #

    The best

  32. HL May 18, 2014 at 00:40 #

I’m slightly bothered by the hip part. It looks a bit widened to me.

  33. Jeremyrain May 18, 2014 at 01:08 #

A silver/rhinestones clutch would be an icing on top.

  34. eminere May 18, 2014 at 02:58 #

I don’t see the big deal, to be honest.

GORGEOUS color, well fitted, I like the bold, opulent cut at the hip, actually, and her styling is flawless. It’s a great look, the best of the day for me. I was only disappointed by the slit which is quite awkward on the stairs. However I’ll just pretend it isn’t there in the long shot. Overall it’s a beautiful, amazing, stand-out look and I’ll be adding it to my BDOTY list!

  36. Prudence May 18, 2014 at 04:47 #

So I will happily stand alone cause I personally do not think this is that unbelievable. Whatever is happening in that hip area is terribly bothersome and really unflattering. Also this is far to similar to the Roland Mouret she wore to the Baftas. Overall the only thing I truly love about this look is the color.

    • dee May 18, 2014 at 13:08 #

You’re not alone on this I think it’s not that great too.

  37. Alina May 18, 2014 at 05:19 #

    BREATH-TAKING!

  38. George May 18, 2014 at 05:56 #

Jessica Chastain + Atelier Versace + Electric Blue = PERFECTION. The gown feels regal on her.

  39. Noemi May 18, 2014 at 09:15 #

She looks stunning. The dress is beyond beautiful, I love this color. The styling is perfect. I wish Versace dressed only women like her, Angelina Jolie and other beautiful women, not tacky singers and teenagers.
    The jewelry is Tesiro.

  40. dan oliver May 18, 2014 at 09:56 #

Wow She looks breathtaking I love Jessica so happy to see her looking exquisite again

  41. lisa May 18, 2014 at 11:32 #

The last year’s BDOTY Givenchy and this one kept me think why all Jessica Chastain’s look had wider hip proportion than other female star. It bothers me.

  42. Gemma Rockets May 19, 2014 at 06:20 #

Jessica is so spectacularly beautiful and elegant, and in blue… It could be a blue towel and she’d make it work. I don’t think the fit of this dress in the bust and waist is quite right but who cares, she’s stunning.

  43. kane May 19, 2014 at 09:36 #

I haven’t read the comments yet but I’m happy to be in the minority that feels a bit disappointed. Yes, blue looks fabulous on her, we all know, and she obviously knows as well. It’s a great gown, but the chest area isn’t working for me at all, so badly in fact that I can’t really see around it, nor does the whole top area strike me as particularly flattering. The accessories are pretty, but again on the safe side and the hair seems almost limp. Finally, the one thing that doesn’t come to my mind personally is ‘radiant.’ There is one gorgeous picture of her laughing–point taken, but other than that she looked more like on tranquilizers to me frankly.

  44. jones19 May 19, 2014 at 15:33 #

I don’t like this, it’s too similar to her Bafta look and this dress does nothing for her figure. I don’t think people would love this as much if it wasn’t electric blue.

  45. Larissa May 19, 2014 at 18:21 #

She looks beautiful and and the colour is divine on her. However,I’m not completely blown away by this look mainly because this gown instantly reminds me of the breathtaking Roland Mouret gown that she wore at the BAFTAs last year which was way more flattering for her stunning figure.

  46. TeaAtTwo May 19, 2014 at 19:56 #

I adore the colour and old school glamour of it.
