Naomi Watts In Marchesa – ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2′ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Naomi Watts In Marchesa - ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2? Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Naomi Watts attended the ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2′ premiere during the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival this evening (May 16) in Cannes, France.

There are very few traditions left when it comes to Cannes, but you can always rely on Naomi to wear Marchesa.

Naomi wore an exquisite, graceful custom dusty blue silk chiffon draped Grecian gown with black diamond crystal embroidery, with a cowl overlay sweeping through the sweetheart neckline.

As the face of Bulgari, she donned a diamond-encrusted serpent necklace that snaked around the back. On an ordinary night this may have been considered overkill because of the embellishments on the gown, but this is no ordinary night.

The design of the gown is nothing new, I actually got a déjà vu vibe from it. But she does look gorgeous.

I want to like this, I really do but the one up/one down straps are all my eyes zero in on. The necklace was also a bit much for me, even for Cannes.

Tres elegant. She looks very beautiful.

    Movie star moment.

I understand the “dated” comments but I can totally give it a pass as “timeless/movie star” moment. Not the greatest look out there but rather nice and suits her.

The draping falling off the shoulder is, in fact, distracting, looks more like a malfunction, don’t mind the necklace, it works with the look quite nicely, she looks gorgeous and glamorous, the softness of the look suits her.

Now, that’s how a movie star should look like! BDOTW candidate for me.

Beautiful. So far #2 for the day.

This style has been done and done so much better already and the all too modern necklace shows me that someone had no clue how to style this properly… sadly no. I really want to like this because she’s hit or rather miss so often for me on the RC but nah, sorry Naomi.

    Dated and deja vu

    lovely

The necklace, while beautiful, is all wrong for this look. There is enough going on with the bodice and straps that you really don’t need a necklace at all. A nice pair of earrings would have been much better.

I have to admit I have a weakness for the sliding strap, reminds me so much of Sargent’s Madame X, which caused quite a scandal in its day. Naomi looks sexy and glamorous and the color is so soft and lovely for her. Just wish she’d skipped the necklace.

I Iiked this bit I would have chosen a different necklace . I don’t this one works with the gown. She looks pretty.

I think she looks very boring compare to everyone else. Pretty, but forgettable.

  16. Rebecca Z May 16, 2014 at 20:54 #

She looks spectacular–except for the necklace. For me, it distracts from that beautiful gown with its lovely details. But, even so, she looks amazing.

  17. EmmaWoodhouse May 16, 2014 at 21:07 #

Love the design but it’s sitting too low, especially visible in the close-up. The necklace isn’t a great choice. Other than that it’s a very pretty, soft, elegant look.

It’s not ugly…it’s just outdated. It looks at least a few years old…not sure if it is because I don’t pay much attention to Marchesa…which explains why I don’t like this.

this marchesa dress has been passed around too much in hollywood.

  20. Schuy May 17, 2014 at 03:25 #

She looks brautiful. Even the pictures from the back are gorgeous

  21. Caitlin May 17, 2014 at 04:59 #

Whoever decided to swing that necklace around to snake down her back (her stylist?) is a goddam genius.

  22. Jess2 May 17, 2014 at 07:00 #

The necklace does feel a little out of place, but overall she looks stunning.

Almost makes me forget Diana. Almost.

I think the hair ages her drastically
