Long-time reader (for years and years now!), first time commenter. Thanks for being an inspiration to little fashion bloggers like myself! This was your best round-up yet. Every one of your superlatives is absolutely spot-on. Just wanted to let you know. :)

    • Catherine Kallon May 9, 2014 at 17:21 #

Thank you…I am happy in the knowledge that I excelled enough to entice you to comment for the first time :D

Agreeo n everything, but FC, ¨I still don’t know how I feel about this award¨, ¨Time to cut ties with Miuccia Prada¨, hahahahaha.

I have to say I missed Nina Dobrev a lot in this event.

      me too

  3. arwa May 9, 2014 at 17:16 #

I wish if you mention two of my favorites from the night (both in red): Arizona Muse and Monica Bellucci. And if there was an award for best gothic I think it will goes to Beyonce no doubt.

  4. Alina May 9, 2014 at 17:16 #

    FC, you’re hilarious!

  5. Larissa May 9, 2014 at 17:16 #

Lupita’s award made me laugh so hard but I couldn’t agree more with you FC, I never saw Lupita+Prada as a winning combination, not even for the Oscars even though everyone loved her outfit. As for the best dressed I was torn between Karolina and Blake but looking back Karolina’s dress was so spectacular and her presence so regal that she deserves to win.

  6. Joy May 9, 2014 at 17:28 #

    Spot on!!! Fantastic round up!

  7. Mar May 9, 2014 at 17:41 #

I tink SJP deserved better. I hate it when celebrities play it safe to get into the best dressed list and skip the dress code and go oh so pretty. Sarah went white-tie, big, dramatic, stunning. I think she deserved more recognition.

    • Cássia May 9, 2014 at 22:57 #

      +1

    • KC May 10, 2014 at 00:09 #

      +2

SJP fully embraced the theme with a tasteful dose of theatricality which is appropriate considering she was a co-host. It wasn’t a cheap theatre (see Lupita), it was a well executed look with the attention to the theme and dress code. Can’t say I was truly impressed or wowed (she wasn’t in my top), but she was on-point and I also think she was a bit underappreciated.

LOL at the Miuccia Prada awards. I totally agree with them and I also agree with the other awards, except for Kate Upton; that look is WDOTY-worthy IMO. But Karolina, Douglas and Charlize were definitely my best dressed too.

  9. principessacate May 9, 2014 at 17:57 #

This was fantastic. Thank you for your coverage and for starting to provide more posts late in the day on the US side for us to get through our work!

FC, thank you SO much for all your hard work always; your wit, insight and knowledge is always second to none and I always love visiting this site.
This is the second time Karolina has won best dressed at the Gala, the first time being the Rachel Zoe gown (which was superior to the Marchesa IMHO. Is it safe to say she’s the MET Gala’s MVP?
I actually think Lupita’s look will be seen as a fantastic look in a couple of years time after the initial shock has worn off.
I’m LOVING the Ludacris reference as well ;)

    • Catherine Kallon May 9, 2014 at 18:32 #

Yes, Karolina is Queen of the Met

Glad you enjoyed the coverage. x

FC, Awesome coverage as usual. i agree with all the awards and I am LMAO at the prada award. I am not a fan of this event because because the attendees seem to select the ugly dresses to wear.

  12. amy May 9, 2014 at 18:37 #

I agree.Prada was a mess, thank god for Adele.
KK is the obvious best dressed.

  13. Miguel May 9, 2014 at 19:04 #

This is maybe my third year reading you blog and I really wanna congratulate you on this round-up (your best one, in my humble opinion)
All the cultural references made this quite fun to read.
I woould like to know how you felt about the singer’s choices at this MET Gala.
    Thanks again for the A M A Z I N G coverage!

Thanks for your support, I really couldn’t do this blog without it.

I am very happy the coverage was so well received…now CANNES

  14. Megha May 9, 2014 at 19:19 #

I’ve been waiting the last couple of days for this roundup FC…and it was SO worth the way.
Absolutely brilliant and hilarious at the same time!
Especially LOVED the one for Lupita. Sadly Lupita may have the distinction of ending up BDOTY and WDOTY.

But seriously, I love these roundups but this is the best one yet

    Have a lovely weekend
    xo

    • Catherine Kallon May 9, 2014 at 22:40 #

LOL…I am glad you enjoyed it….I like to marinade on the event before working on these posts :D

Your comment about Lupita might very well become true..how ironic

      Have a great weekend.

  15. Faye May 9, 2014 at 19:22 #

Haha the Prada’s! I agree with that, but I just can’t get with KK being best dressed! The print is not pretty at all and I can’t believe Karen Elson isn’t here, she looked fantastic even thought in some pictures her dress looks kinda cheap. Anyways, I love these kind of posts, they always make me laugh!

  16. LeeAnn May 9, 2014 at 19:39 #

The proper dress code for white tie is pearl studs not onyx. Sorry went to a lot of balls when I was young

  17. Christine May 9, 2014 at 19:59 #

    Lmao great post. So cheeky.

  18. ram May 9, 2014 at 20:01 #

blake’s boobs looks so pornish!!!! to me the hole necline looks trashy with those two plastics tits in front….and the hair it looks like a wig…the dress was flawless bue the girl was to fake…love from argentina!!!

  19. Maria S. May 9, 2014 at 20:13 #

Still, to this moment, I simply cannot understand how Miuccia delivered some of her BEST gowns this past year, just to be this total dissapointment at the Met Gala…. I will only exclude Adele, because she was stunning (but her gown still had weird breast pads…)

I think this year was better than last year, but it proved once more, that models are nodels because they can really work a hard outfit.

  20. Carrie May 9, 2014 at 20:38 #

Yay!!! The post I’ve been waiting for – and you did not disappoint! :D

“More misses than Henry VIII” – LOL

  21. EmmaWoodhouse May 9, 2014 at 23:07 #

I could just SEE the sassy Z-snap while reading this post, FC! Your wit is in top form! That last quip was the best :D

Haha, I was SO looking forward to this! It lived up to my expectations. :)

  22. Jazz May 9, 2014 at 23:50 #

I agree with all of these except one- worst dressed. I think any of the Miuccia looks were far worse than Katie’s Marchesa. Hilarious awards though!

  23. michelle May 10, 2014 at 03:31 #

Lol. This was funny. Also, I think I saw you coming out of whole foods a few weeks back, but I was too scared to say hi.

  24. kevinappears May 10, 2014 at 05:15 #

Lupita should get both Worst Dressed and Most Disappointing Award!!

  25. Nicole May 11, 2014 at 17:43 #

I had a bit of a giggle at the ‘Henry the 8th’ award, very funny. I have been rather underwhelmed with Prada an Miu Miu for a while now, but I think that the Met Gala 2014 was the day that finally killed the brands for me. It was just ridiculous. Go take a good, hard look at yourself Miucia, and step away from the bedazzler!
