Get The Look: Marion Cotillard’s Met Gala Glamour

"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - ArrivalsMarion Cotillard stunned on the red carpet on Monday’s Costume Institute Gala at the Met.

While her beautifully intricate navy Christian Dior dress wowed both onlookers and attendees, it was her classic and elegant makeup that truly made the full look exceptional. Seeking inspiration from bombshells of the past, celebrity makeup artist, Christophe Danchaud created a look that was both timeless and ultra-luxurious.

“The dress makes a graphic statement and we complemented it with glowing skin, iridescent eyes and richly pigmented lips,” says makeup artist Christophe Danchaud.

Here is how you can recreate this beautiful look:

Face (complexion): To begin, Christophe prepped Marion’s skin Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum. He followed with Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup in 1.5 and Hourglass Corrective Concealer in Pearl. To finish the skin and give it a glowing from within look, Christophe applied Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light all over the face. The dusting of this powder along the skin created a flattering soft-focus effect.

Cheeks: Keeping in line with the skin’s luxurious glow, he applied Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Radiant Magenta. The golden fuchsia tone of the blush gave the cheek a perfect touch of color and radiance.

Eyes: Using Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow in Exhibition, he began applying the shimmering lilac shade to the entire eye lid area. He then proceeded to blend the dark mauve shade in the duo palette close to her lash line. To lighten and brighten the look, Christophe used a gold pigment on the lids as well. Moving to the lashes, he applied several generous coats of Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara.

Brows: To frame Marion’s face, Christophe defined her brows with Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette.

Lips: To achieve that richly pigmented lip color, Christophe began by lining lips with Hourglass Panoramic Long Wear Lip Liner in Raven (Summer Launch) and followed with a mixture of Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Raven and Muse, all of which created a sensual orange red shade.
