Michelle Williams In Louis Vuitton – 2014 Met Gala

Michelle-Williams-In-Alexander-McQueen-2014-Met-Gala

Michelle Williams joined the fashion elite on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The actress wore a shimmering Louis Vuitton dress from the Fall 2014 collection.

While there is no denying this dress is gorgeous, I can’t help but feel it is a bit lackluster next to some of the works-of-art that are going down the red carpet alongside Michelle.

Her coral lips and cheeks, chic bob and classic black pumps and clutch keep the entire look chic and understated.

What do you think? Do you appreciate Michelle’s simplistic approach to the night, or do you wish she had really wow’d us?

    Beyond dull and under-dressed.

FC, you are being awful generous and kind in your comments. These are some sad Met looks so far. This daytime dress is just horrible. Unflattering and boring.

However, your coverage is anything but boring. Thank you for such wonderful coverage! I’ve looked forward to this night all year, and your hard work is so appreciated!

Completely underdone, she could have at least spiced things up with better heels.

This looks like something you might wear to an office party! Lets hope she isn’t sitting beside Karolina or someone is going to feel very underdressed!

The fit is so bad! She’s wearing it like a babydoll dress.

  9. Nat39 May 6, 2014 at 02:09 #

Clearly not enough, way underwhelming for the major gala.

What event is she going to and how did she end up here.

      Lmao

Wtf?? Ultra boring. Back to home.

I don’t understand how she missed the mark this badly.

She’s looked gorgeous in ball gowns before (purple Givenchy at the 2006 Globes, pink Dior couture in 2012), so I don’t understand why she decided to go the complete opposite direction tonight.

Me, too, I usually love her, in a way that, under-dressed or not, I expect her to look so graceful and beautiful on the red carpet. I’m so, so confused.

What a let down. They were some dresses in the collection which could have been good after modifications.
    Michelle is always boring.
    JENNIFER CONNELLY, WHERE ARE YOU???

Michelle bores the hell out of me with her slightly oversized clothing (to make her look even more waif-like?) and her desire to look like she and Don Draper got together during this last season of Mad Men with her oh so mod clothing choices. Just boring.

    Underdressed?

  17. Suz May 6, 2014 at 04:12 #

I actually think this is a really cute look. …just not for the Met Gala.

  18. Dhppy May 6, 2014 at 06:48 #

Well, I’m glad it doesn’t have the 70s collar of the runway version. I don’t know why someone thought this was upscale enough for the Met Gala, though.

Great look for Late Night with David Letterman/ Jimmy Kimmel/ jimmy Fallon.

Great look for a luncheon, not so much for the fashion event of the FREAKING YEAR. *shakes head*

A poor showing on a gala night, meh

  22. justme May 6, 2014 at 15:25 #

Give her a break. She was clearly going to a photocall and got lost on the way lol.
No but seriously, this is the most “eff effort” look of the night.

  23. Marcel May 6, 2014 at 17:00 #

I would be happy if she had just respected the dress code.
Just a gown, any one, would be better than this.

  24. Parvati May 6, 2014 at 22:13 #

She is definitely under-dressed. This would be cute for a photocall, not even a premiere, let alone the MET Gala.

  25. Stephanie @ Whole Health Dork May 7, 2014 at 12:16 #

Perhaps because I’m just an everday person who never gets a chance to dress up like this and wear insanely gorgeous, designer dresses (aside from my wedding day), why not go all out? This is the opportunity to have a lot of fun with it. This dress can be worn any other time-movie premier, more casual awards dinner. I was hoping for something more.
