Emmy Rossum In Carolina Herrera – 2014 Met Gala

Emmy Rossum In Carolina Herrera - 2014 Met Gala

Emmy Rossum took to the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala with a grand flourish, as she posed at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 5).

Donning a sculptural, strapless Carolina Herrera yellow ball gown, exploding in a colourful, nearly clashing floral print, she put her own stamp on the ‘Charles James: Beyond Fashion’ theme.

Lavish statement Van Cleef & Arpels jewels included a diamond flower ring whilst her complementary rose-tinged earrings matched her matte crimson lip and red manicure, tying the florid look together.

Vintage-inspired, her twisted, slicked-back ’do was also an homage to Mr. James.

Bold and beautiful… after all, the Met Ball is not a time for shrinking violets.

This is going to pain me to say this because I love Emmy and her style, but this dress looks kinda dated. I get the big full ball gown but I am not feeling the dated print. Looks a little been there and done that.

    Not liking this as much.

Is it wrong that i kinda expect more than this from her and Herera?

I wonder if Nina Dobrev attensing this year gala?

Not gonna lie, I expected more from the duo too. Falls kinda short in the end. Forgettable looking dress.

Carolina needs to leave off the giant cabbage rose prints for a while. Emmy looks great but the print is just over the edge of being tacky.

ITA. Love hair and beauty approach. However, after Lucy Liu’s similar blue Herrera, I’m kinda over cabbage roses.

I’ve seen it before, but it’s still beautiful and it’s just different enough to help her stand out.

I actually love it! Big, bold, and beautiful – with a vintage twist. Very theme appropriate.

This is more like it! Not generally a fan of the giant print but I think on this occasion – it works. Love the earrings too.

Bold, vibrant, standout, with a touch of vintage – totally inspired look from Emmy for the gala.

I think Emmy looks beautiful! The earrings are the perfect touch, and yellow really works for her.

I think she looks gorgeous. The hair and makeup make this look for me.

    Nailed it!

Love everything. I guess I’m in that spring mood for everything floral at the moment. Afterall, it was a gorgeous day out in nyc today. My favorite look so far!

I love this, the colour and silhouette look lovely on her. Second favourite at the moment!

I usually LOVE Carolina Herrera’s large flower print gowns. But it doesn’t feel original here. It is beautiful, but I find myself comparing it to others from years past. She needs to give this style a rest.

Emmy styled this vintage look to perfection, not my fav, but in my top 5

  17. Dhppy May 6, 2014 at 07:15 #

I appreciate it, but I’m not in love. Not Rossum kind of love.

  18. Yeliz May 6, 2014 at 07:35 #

I was expecting more from her too, but she looks flawless nonetheless. Love her hair and makeup.

Normally I hate florals but I LOVE this punchy number, really made me say wow when looking thru all the shots. Top 5 for sure.

The styling is 120% impeccable, but I expected a bit more out of the gown.

  21. amy May 6, 2014 at 12:03 #

    she looks beautiful

  22. EmmaWoodhouse May 6, 2014 at 13:00 #

She is rocking my world in this bold, beautiful gown, with MAGNIFICENT styling. Already a favorite!

  23. Alina May 6, 2014 at 14:22 #

    Sadly, I don’t like this.

  24. Niceto May 10, 2014 at 01:49 #

A lot of celebs were rocking a full skirted ball gown at the Met Gala this year. The is exhibit is for Charles James after all! And given that Carolina Herrera is celebrating a retrospective of her iconic prints, I think Emmy’s look is spot on. Maybe the naysayers need to bone up on their fashion history a little.
