Beyonce Knowles In Givenchy Couture – 2014 Met Gala

Beyonce Knowles In Givenchy Couture - 2014 Met Gala

Beyoncé turns heads on the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

She looks fierce in a black beaded Givenchy Couture number with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

There is no doubt that Queen B always looks fabulous, and this is no exception. She stood out in this seriously sexy number and adds a unique touch with the veil.

The detail on this dress is simply captivating and so is her bold burgundy lip, accented by a subtle gold shimmer around her eyes.

Beyoncé can do no wrong in my opinion. She certainly sets herself apart from the crowd, but still is on target for the theme and nature of the gala. What do you think?

    Nothing exciting.

Yup, feel I’ve seen it all before…

Beyonce and Givenchy never seem to work; this is no exception.

      Exactly!

    • Nat May 6, 2014 at 14:10 #

      I agree.

    • sara May 6, 2014 at 19:56 #

agreed, not liking this at all.

    • CreoleLady May 7, 2014 at 10:35 #

+4. She srsly cannot do edgy imo. The hairnet and black beetle earrings just add to the ridic factor. The rest just looks tacky. Enough with the sheer skirts — please.

Queen B is not reigning tonight.

I dig the fact I could not recognise Beyonce at first glance.
There is something mysterious about it that I like.

The neck on up is hot and that’s it. I like the mysterious dark, netting but the silhouette is sloppy and unflattering

My Facebook is full of people losing their mind over this look and I’m kind of baffled by it……is it the dress or is it just because its Beyonce?

Honestly, it’s a fine look, but it’s not overly special to me. If anyone else wore it noone would care.

Olivia Munn got flack for wearing a low cut dress, but there is no comment about this low cut + sheer skirt combo? C’mon…..

    • Denis May 6, 2014 at 09:51 #

Couldn’t agree more. Everyone on my Facebook keeps posting pictures of her. I think it’s quite far aware from the theme of the night.

    • sara May 6, 2014 at 21:42 #

I completely agree… I actually think Beyonce is just overall over-rated. But keeping my personal feelings aside, I still just dont like this look- it doesnt come together. And I also agree about the low cut comment- its too much on Olivia apparently but perfect on Bey? I disagree. I preferred Olivia’s look over this. Sometimes I think she just tries too hard. Bey is a beautiful woman with a great figure, she doesnt always need to look like she’s styled by Tina Knowles for House of Dereon!

      • Prudence May 7, 2014 at 01:36 #

“she doesnt always need to look like she’s styled by Tina Knowles for House of Dereon!”
        THE CHURCH YELLS AMEN!!!!

Well, this is my favourite look of hers at the MET gala since 2012 when she started showing up regularly.

  10. Renata May 6, 2014 at 05:03 #

I’m yet to see an exciting look from her on the MET Gala. And this is coming from a huge fan. To be quite honest at this point I’ve just given up on her showing up at the MET with a jaw dropping look lol

  11. Mandy May 6, 2014 at 05:10 #

I think this would have been better suited for last years gala. Theres too much going on for me.

  12. Dhppy May 6, 2014 at 05:33 #

This has won me over. And it speaks to the time period of the theme.

  13. arang May 6, 2014 at 05:44 #

Those earrings are just awesome. Love the severity of the look in general. On the other hand, I look at the dress itself and am left cold. It’s kind of odd, to be honest (maybe a bad photo?), and I am so very over the sheer skirts.

  14. justme May 6, 2014 at 05:51 #

She looks like a sexy widow lol.

I like the top part of the dress. Things get sloppy once the sheer skirt starts :/

  15. friend of cats May 6, 2014 at 05:51 #

I did not recognize her. But I don’t love it. I didn’t love last year’s look at the Met either. She’s so beautiful she looks better when she’s not to madeup.

  16. sanette May 6, 2014 at 06:19 #

I think it’s more scary than anything. I don’t really know what to make of the cut of the dress.

  17. overqueenb May 6, 2014 at 07:15 #

    I looove it. so unpredictable

  19. Simon May 6, 2014 at 07:41 #

This is my favorite look from her at MET, i like that everything is all well put together, make up, accessoires, dress. Compares to last year where she didnt even brush her hair lol.

No i really love this look, and the veil is nice, and i think that for her, its really out of her confort zone, u gotta understand that she is coming from tacky world.

    No i really love this!

  20. Valissa May 6, 2014 at 07:58 #

This is much better than last years atrocity!
It’s still not jaw-droppingly amazing but I kind of like the dark and gothic vibe she has going on here. I even like the head piece covering her eyes.

    • Sophy May 6, 2014 at 13:09 #

ITA- but last year was so eye searing bad its a pretty low standard at this point. I do like this though even though am not sure its dressing for the theme. And this is from someone who is def not a fan!

      • Sophy May 6, 2014 at 16:04 #

I take it back- just saw the back and the underbutt pushes it straight to tacky with a capital T

  21. amy May 6, 2014 at 08:32 #

much better than her previous met looks but still needs some work.

  22. Carolina May 6, 2014 at 09:02 #

It’s kind of a deja vu for me… It looks like the Versace dress Jennifer Lopez wore for the Grammys in 2000.. Same idea just different color. Big disappointing!

  23. Regina May 6, 2014 at 09:23 #

Horrible, especially the earrings. I have the feeling that if anyone else had worn this dress, it would have got low marks.

  24. scarlett May 6, 2014 at 09:37 #

At the risk of being stalked by the Beygency lol, this is just blah. Just because it’s Beyonce doesn’t mean it can’t be bad. It’s like she’s dressing for last year.

  25. LOLA May 6, 2014 at 09:43 #

I like her hair like that. She is so beautiful.
I was surprised that she didn’t wore TOM FORD…in fact no one wore TOM FORD. Disturbing.
    Good look queen B

  26. Joy May 6, 2014 at 10:38 #

Well I’m NEVER (or at least on very rare occasions) in the Beyonce camp, but on this night she is perfection. She absolutely nailed this look. Love.

  27. Yeliz May 6, 2014 at 10:40 #

I like how mysterious this look is, she pulls the whole look off. I’m not totally sold, as I think the sheer part should’ve been lined, but she does look great.

  28. Christine May 6, 2014 at 11:32 #

I only like the veil and her makeup

  29. Sammy C May 6, 2014 at 11:37 #

Im not sure how long she has been attending the Met Gala for, but this is the best by far out of all the looks I recall.

It is pure Beyonce, it is couture and it is totally theme appropriate… There is something very architectural and mathematical about it even if its not a blatant structured-gown-Charles-James homage. Hair make up and accesories are flawless too.

  30. Mm May 6, 2014 at 12:01 #

This fit the punk theme Love the veil

  31. Pedro May 6, 2014 at 12:28 #

  32. Rachael May 6, 2014 at 13:22 #

I actually think that’s while it’s not structured a la Charles James, it’s perfectly on-theme for the period. Also, it’s a great dress but the skirt looks much better in motion.

  33. Vicky May 6, 2014 at 15:00 #

If you took off the face cover, she’d just be wearing a boring black dress. So this is a “no” for me.

  34. EmmaWoodhouse May 6, 2014 at 15:15 #

Loathing the too-busy, unflattering, too-revealing dress. The veil is interesting. Not sure if it worked, though.

  35. Anna May 6, 2014 at 18:40 #

I’m so ambivalent about this look, I don’t love it and I don’t hate it.

  36. Patrick May 6, 2014 at 23:01 #

I just don’t find this attractive in any way. Just my opinion but the see thru look just doesn’t work for the Met Gala

  37. Pratyush May 7, 2014 at 06:53 #

Beyonce was a let down. I don’t understand the goth vibe at an event dedicated to Charles James. For once, I will say Kim K got it better in 2014. Bey’s look would have suited last year’s theme better – where her flaming gown didn’t do it for me.
