Burberry Brings London To Shanghai

Burberry Shanghai 1

Burberry celebrated the launch of their new Shanghai flagship store by bringing London to Shanghai on Thursday (April 24).

Guests, including Burberry family members Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, Jamie Campbell Bower, Angelababy and Gwei Lun-Mei, took a journey celebrating the Burberry worlds of Britishness, heritage, music and fashion.

Suki Waterhouse: The British model wore a Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2014 romantic, feminine black lace design made sultry by the side slit.

Cara Delevingne: Working a part-boyish, part-feminine look, the model wore a borrowed-from-the-boys cream shirt with a few buttons undone and a sheer crochet skirt, styled with a Burberry clutch and simple black pumps.

Paloma Faith: Burberry FROW regular Paloma Faith provided the entertainment for the evening. The British singer sparkled on the red carpet wearing a sequined-covered dress in autumnal shades of red, orange and taupe. Styled with taupe Burberry accessories which also had touches of bling, the look was completed with her signature twisted updo.

Jamie Campbell Bower: The actor, who stars in Burberry Prorsum’s Spring 2014 ad campaign, always looks slightly dishevelled yet so well put together; wearing a selection of Burberry pieces including a forest-green coat and printed scarf on this occasion, he added a red scarf tied to his wrist for a pop of colour.

Carina Lau: The Asian actress wore a ’50s-style open-neck belted jacquard coat, modernizing her look with a pair of Burberry ‘Taylor’ T-bar sandals with added sparkle.

Angelababy: Also opting for the Burberry ‘Taylor’ sandals, this time with a T-bar of translucent plastic, they are almost indistinguishable against her skin tone. Sadly, this is my least favourite look from this event, which is a surprise as she has rocked Burberry so perfectly in the past. Even with that heavily embellished sheer skirt the look falls a bit flat by her standards. Also, boy-shorts would’ve been preferred over panties.

Gwei Lun-Mei: The actress opted for a more muted approach, wearing an olive Burberry mock off-the-shoulder dress with a sheer yoke, styled with a purple clutch and black pumps.

Suki really stood out here.
