Carrie Underwood In Oscar de la Renta – ACM Awards 2014

Carrie Underwood In Oscar de la Renta - ACM Awards 2014

Carrie Underwood shimmied her way down the red carpet for the 49th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday (April 6) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dressed in a white Oscar de la Renta gold-beaded fringe gown, I wanted to be wowed but this feels a bit tame by Carrie’s standards.

I don’t dislike the gown by any means – I just wanted more. More frou frou, as I missed a princess moment on this red carpet.

The look was styled with signature glossy waves, Jimmy Choo sandals, a white beaded clutch and David Yurman jewels.

Does this look wow you?

I am actually glad that she didn’t dial up the cheese tacky factor like she normally does.

This is a refreshing change of pace for her.

    I like this look

      +1

I love everything about this look. For me, this is still in line with Carrie’s love for frou frou/girly styling. I think it’s just more subtle, which for me equates to more classy. I’m loving the subtle details of the dress + her the added accessories & hair. She looks super feminine and pretty, A really great look for Carrie!

We’ve seen so many princessy looks from her, so I think that this is a refreshing change. The gown is beautiful, she looks enchanting.

+1. It is shimmery and white plus the Rapunzel hair (a bit much) so there are plenty of princess-y elements here. No need for a ball gown, much prefer this more sophisticated silhouette. I like it very much.

I agree as well. It’s a nice, somehow refreshing look.

I agree with you FC. I really like this look, but something is missing,

The only thing I like here is the hair! The xour and style are gorgeous!
    I’m not feeling the dress

I don’t like this gown, the wavy pattern of the fringe to be exact. From the neck up she looks beautiful, though.

  7. Nina April 7, 2014 at 13:17 #

Even if the dress is a bit different of what she usually uses on red carpet, to me it looks like she’s always dress according to the same moto. She needs a break of it!

  8. kane April 7, 2014 at 13:18 #

Not wowed by the gown, but she did what she could with it.

  9. gabis April 7, 2014 at 13:40 #

I don’t see this refreshing change. It’s the same pageant hair, build-up makeup and matchy-matchy outfit. It’s a NO for me.

I like the everthing neck up. Not crazy about the gown.

I dislike everything about this look. She looks like a barbie doll

    • gabis April 7, 2014 at 18:04 #

Yes, barbie doll seems to be her standard look.

It’s pretty, but not spectacular. Maybe its the color–or lack thereof. She kind of can’t win–when she does the princess thing we all just say she’s too one note. When she tries to move in a more sophisticated direction, lots of folks complain. She could experiment more, but she has such a pretty girly beauty, it must be hard to resist.

I love this look from head to toe. I always appreciate how feminine Carrie always looks. When this dress moved on the red carpet it really amped up the whole vibe for me.

  14. Neli April 7, 2014 at 15:19 #

Not my fav but Love her!

The dress is pretty, I think that she needs a pop of colour somewhere, maybe via the lips. I dislike the heavy eye makeup, the eyes could be lighter and a bold lip could make this look more elegant.

I think it looks too old for her. Way too old – it would be great on Jessica Lange.

    • Camille April 7, 2014 at 18:41 #

I agree. I find the gown matronly and boring.

  17. Dhppy April 7, 2014 at 19:45 #

I like this a lot. I am more than shocked that Oscar de la Renta would play around with the seam at the bust, though. This is a bit wild for him.

I like the tiered effect that the fringe creates, but the general silhouette of the dress doesn’t accentuate her figure at all. She’s petite to begin with, so wearing a full-length gown without belting it or providing some sort of definition around the waist is a bad idea.

Yet another forgetful outing by Carie. Seriously I am shocked she lasted this long in the industry, she has zero presence.
