Carina Lau In Ralph & Russo – 8th Asian Film Awards

Carina Lau In Ralph & Russo - 8th Asian Film Awards

Carina Lau attended The 8th Asian Film Awards on Thursday (March 27) in Macau, China.

The actress can always be relied upon to bring us a breathtaking, dramatic look, and that was most evident in this Ralph & Russo Spring 2014 Couture design.

Made from the most delicate lace, the shimmering red one-sleeved gown with a sassy side slit was emboldened with a satin rosette detail on the bodice.

Rather than overwhelm, the petite star took on this spectacular piece opting for subtle makeup and swept-up hair to ensure nothing detracted from this work of art.

    Just… WOW!

  5. Yeliz March 28, 2014 at 10:50 #

Wow, this is truly a breathtaking, jaw-dropping look. I’m loving everything about this and it’s also a strong BDOTY contender in my eyes.

BDOTW … BDOTY! Amazing as ever from Carina and Ralph & Russo x

A Rolland-Dolce/Gabbana mash up that is too much dress for her imo. The lace is pretty and the color beautiful but dislike overall.

Love love love this look! Glamorous and elegant – hands down BDOTW!

I just love this gown. Carina looks great in it, but I would prefer to see Nieves Alvarez or Zoe Saldana in it.

I really want to like this, but I just feel like the design of the gown and the fabric is dated. It’s very Krystle Carrington Dynasty for me.

I love the drama but with all the red and lace it does feel dated.

      +2

I just love all these Asian lady-stars and their bold fashion choice! (Though to be honest, I’m not a fan of the slit and the floor-sweeping hem/train.)

    Sensational.

    BDOTW. just divine

Fantastic dress but she is to short for this look

I fall into the negative camp on this one. I think the dress overwhelms her and agree with CreoleLady that the design is derivative. And I am almost never a fan of red lace. It just almost always looks cheap in my opinion.

I LOVE the dress. It really is a piece of art. But I find myself comparing it to the other Ralph & Russo flower dress she wore about a month ago. I think I like that one better on her. Surprisingly she carries this dress well, but I think it’s the red I don’t love on her. Don’t get me wrong this dress is amazing, I just find myself comparing the two looks and I like the white ethereal dress better. I picture this gown being crazy beautiful on Nieves Alvarez.

One can’t help but compare the two lace+rosette bodice designs, exactly. I adored her other Ralph&Russo dress, it was magical in light pink and its delicate elegance suited Carina. There’s no the same magic and novelty factor this time around, unfortunately. Plus, this look is much stronger and dramatic in bold red and, frankly, I’m not convinced that softly elegant Carina is selling the bold drama. Perhaps, indeed on someone like Nieves Alvarez it would’ve translated better.
I can’t give Carina full thumbs up on this one, unfortunately.

I have to disagree. I think the dress is horrid, and it overwhelms her. I hate it on the model too – SO overdone!

    • snowlion March 30, 2014 at 02:08 #

      I completely agree, it’s awful!

I don’t like the satin rose. It makes the dress look cheesy and dated.
