First Lady Michelle Obama Travels to China

First Lady Michelle Obama Travels to China

First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia are visiting China on a seven-day trip to expand Sino-American relations.

Thursday: Michelle arrived in Beijing, China wearing a Derek Lam Fall 2013 sleeveless suede patchwork mosaic dress featuring leather inserts at the front and a black wool-crepe jersey back panel, which she elegantly styled with over-the-knee boots.

Friday: For her meeting with the Chinese president, Michelle opted to wear red, a colour which symbolizes good fortune and joy to the locals, selecting a custom deco rose threadwork-embroidered 3/4-sleeve Naeem Khan dress styled with matching pumps. This is the 14th time Mrs O has selected a Naeem Khan look. I think it might be safe to say this is her favourite designer.

Saturday: On her visit to the Peking University, Mrs O wore a pretty Carolina Herrera multi-colour abstract-print dress from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection.

Saturday: Later that same day she changed into another printed confection, donning a Clover Canyon top with black high-waisted trousers for her tour of the Summer Palace prior to watching a performance at the Peking Opera House.

Which look is your favourite?

I find them all to be quite special and event appropriate. I continue to love her for her love of colour and prints. If I had to pick my favourite, it would be the Carolina Herrera.

I’d also choose Carolina Herrera. It looks most refreshing. Her red Naeem Khan dress is very pretty.

Great looks, but I’d pick that one as well.

All beautiful and the last out is appropriate since according to the Chinese calendar this is the year of the horse!

It’s the year of the horse, isn’t it? Love the Naeem Khan (the designer wins the day for me between Celia Frejiero, Ciara and now the FLOTUS). The Herrera is my fave too. The first grandmother is looking pretty spiffy too, esp those metallic pumps.

I love that she takes risks with color and prints. FLOTUS has such great style. I can’t imagine another First Lady wearing that Clover Canyon horse print.

Naeem Khan is my favorite. While the red color is expected when visiting China, the detailing on the dress is simply gorgeous and unique (unlike many lace dresses out there).
