Allison Williams In Emilia Wickstead – Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2014

Allison Williams In Emilia Wickstead - Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2014

The recently engaged Allison Williams was glowing at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscars Party on Sunday (March 2).

She wore an Emilia Wickstead Fall 2014 dress right off the runway with a Roger Vivier ‘Prismick’ Pochette.

Although it looks very conservative, the seemingly covered up dress has an elegant open back. Even so, I think Allison constantly plays it either too safe, or too old.

She rounded up the look with her usual flawless, simple and sleek hair and makeup.

I for one am dying to see her take fashion risks! Are you with me?

Just because she always looks flawless and put together doesn’t mean that she doesnt take risks – if you look at a few of her more recent looks she has worn a variety of different styles.

I think she looks amazing, and knows what works for you.

and knows what works for her*.

I agree. While she never wears anything totally out of left field, she does wear a variety of styles.

I think this is beautiful. I love the color and I think her styling is perfect.

ITA. And further, why wouldn’t this be considered risky in a sea of nude/embellished gowns on the one hand and rather old-fashioned structured gowns on the other? I too went back to review her fashion oeuvre and I think she’s adding to her fashion vocabulary quite nicely.

I totally agree. I love Allison’s style. This is my favorite look from her but it’s quite bright and pleasant all the same.

I don’t always love what she wears, but this is beautiful.

I’m 100% with you. She has all the potential (the frame, the stature, the natural beauty…) to rock more exciting and memorable choices. When I look at her, I always feel like she’s holding back. But, of course, she doesn’t have to, she looks consistently good, beautiful and well put-together. It’s only my wish, she could be a knockout on the red carpet, not just safely beautiful and forgettable. She looks nice and lovely here.
    She looks lovely here.

She looks very lovely here, nothing distinctive.

oops, sorry for the repeat at the end, didn’t delete.

It’s too one note for me.

    I think she looks beautiful.

It’s a beautiful flattering color, so she looks very good.

Conservative yes (haven’t seen the back yet), but great nonetheless.

Love the colour, she looks beautiful, but I feel like something’s missing.

      You said it!

I couldn’t disagree more, I think it’s great that she has found her own, distinctive, elegant style. All her looks feel effortless and timeless, which is a refreshing change from most young stars who all seem to try so hard to be edgy. Her looks all still feel modern and unique to me.

Lovely. But not ideal for an Oscar party. I can see Kate Middleton wearing it at a palace reception.

She looks exactly like Emila Wickstead. The likeness is uncanny. I know what you mean re risks but I think she knows her style and what works for her and to me that is exactly what style means.

I’m with you, FC. She bores me.

    • ayatlaw March 4, 2014 at 17:15 #

+1 She doesn’t do a thing for me. She looks like a bobblehead doll.

This needs a thin sparkly belt.

My main objection to this uninspired choice
is that it is just so safe. She is such a gorgeous woman with a great figure, so why does she play it safe when she could easily vamp it up a bit?

  15. Grace Patricia March 3, 2014 at 23:09 #

Better thank taking risks just for the risks themselves, is remaining true to her style. She doesn’t need to try to look like someone else, it’s too shallow to try to look edgy if a more daring style doesn’t suit you.

Minimalism at its finest. Love it. She looks fantastic.
