Chanel Charles Finch Pre-Oscar Dinner

Chanel And Charles Finch Pre-Oscar Dinner 3

There are fewer events more chic than Chanel’s annual pre-Oscar dinner co-hosted by Charles Finch. A host of glamorous stars celebrated an evening of fashion and film at Madeo in Beverly Hills, California, last night (March 1).

Emilia Clarke: ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Emilia Clarke dazzled at the event in a white boucle dress with silver sequin strips and light blue and yellow tweed. Her hair swept up over into a sleek quiff really suite Emilia and added a youthful spin. While the silver Manolo Blahnik sandals kept the look crisp and fresh, the white quilted Chanel clutch was a too big for my liking.

Naomie Harris: Looking radiant in a black tweed dress with dusky pink cap sleeves, Naomie Harris wowed at last night’s dinner. The dress was a great fit for Naomie and also offered a more ladylike change of pace to her usual sassy red carpet style. To finish, Naomie opted for a great chic pair of sandals and her sleek hair and rose tinted lip colour were just perfection. Naomie’s Chanel outing at the pre-BAFTA party wasn’t her strongest, how do you feel this one compares?

Anne Hathaway: Anne Hathaway has been switching up her style recently which is something I’ve really welcomed but last night she returned to her former signature style of a feminine shift dress and heels combo. Wearing a skater style black Chanel dress with lace insert, she added a bold red lip for some welcome drama. Anne styled the simple look with black Salvatore Ferragamo pointed-toe heels with straps which certainly added edge but I feel Anne could have opted for an altogether more commanding look, and one that suited her cool quiff.

Sienna Miller: Sienna Miller made a welcome appearance in a textured monochromatic Chanel shift dress. Looking radiant with her newly dyed hair and a popping red lip, she topped off this cute and feminine look with a typically quirky shoe choice. While I’m not a fan of these black mule-style booties as they are just so heavy-looking, Sienna does have a way to add her own spin on a look which is exactly what she’s done here.

Greta Gerwig: Wearing a signature Chanel monochrome dress, Greta Gerwig was the picture of chic at last night’s dinner. The slim-line cut, cinched waist and just-above-the-ankle hem all really works on Greta’s frame and make for an extremely flattering look. While it would have been nice to see some jewellery to add some polish, the cute bow detail pumps are just fabulous, and I think this is one of Greta’s best looks to date. Do you agree?

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: Never one to disappoint, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley oozed with sexy sophistication on the red carpet yesterday evening. Wearing a Chanenl black mesh cap sleeve top with mini v-neck teamed with a figure-hugging and semi-sheer pencil skirt, Rosie ensured the look erred more on the ladylike side of sassy by teaming with a chic chain strap monochrome Chanel bag. I gladly welcome Rosie’s up-do as it not only makes this look much more demure and old-Hollywood glamour, but it’s also great to see her with her hair up.

Some ugly dresses especially on Naomie and then Emilia.

No one looks amazing and that’s because Chanel does not make amazing looks. It’s like they all struggled to find someone decent to wear with a Chanel label.

    Naomie Harris is my favorite.

Emilia (minus the bag) and Naomi are by far the best dressed of this event: classic Chanel with an edge and a modern elegance

Anne looks so much older. She could do better. For me, it was Emilia who stood out although Naomie looked well put together.

Greta Gerwig’s dress is the same Keira Knightley wore in navy for the Jack Ryan première in LA last month…as well as the shoes, the same Keira wore in London for the European première. I much prefer her version.
Anyway, Naomi Harris is my favourite!

I like both Naomie and Emilia’s looks, but Naomi’s a bit more.

Alice Watt, please can you make an effort when writing your posts to make it sound more natural and less like an essay exercise!

I’ve found over the last few days your writing style is so different from the other contributors that I struggle to enjoy browsing your posts.

Don’t want this to be taken negatively, still great work you’re doing, but a bit of feedback to make it a tad more coherent with the rest of the site 🙂
