Melonie Diaz In Preen – Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Melonie Diaz In Preen - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Melonie Diaz brought a burst of colour to the blue carpet at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, held on Saturday (March 1) at Santa Monica Beach in California.

The ‘Fruitvale Station’ actress and nominee wore a kaleidoscope of a dress from the Preen Spring 2014 collection.

The white, sleeveless frock was emboldened with an abstract, zig-zag geometric print in a bright palette of hues.

In this case, I don’t mind the revisions from the runway design. After all, we’ve seen enough sheer hemlines as it is.

Nor I am bothered by the selection of black pumps, even if a sandal may have been preferred. The heels, along with a minimalistic black VBH handbag, allowed the boldness of the artsy dress to take centre stage.

However, her fuchsia lip was an excellent non-black accessory. W. Britt gold earrings and a bracelet topped off the look.

Love her version of this dress. Even though the shoes weigh down the overall look a little bit, she still looks great.

The dress is gorgeous. I would have loved another coloured shoe but she still looks fantastic.

What a great dress! I actually like the black accessories. They let the dress take center stage more (imo).

While I’m glad she didn’t wear it, I actually like the sheer hemline on the original look. Melonie looks lovely.

I actually prefer the runway version of the dress. The styling isn’t working very well here imo, too much black for such a fun and colourful dress.
