Cate Blanchett In Valentino Couture – Rodeo Drive Walk Of Style Awards Ceremony

Cate Blanchett In Valentino Couture - Rodeo Drive Walk Of Style Awards Ceremony

Cate Blanchett attended the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Awards Ceremony held yesterday evening (February 28) at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, California.

The ‘Blue Jasmine’ actress rose to the stylish occasion by opting for a taupe tasselled Valentino Spring 2014 Couture dress.

This was a dress that skewed the glitz and drama of typical award ceremony dresses and instead offered a whole new take with its exquisite craftsmanship.

Just like the runway, Cate kept the styling minimal. While I can imagine this being worn with flats and bohemian jewellery, Cate added polish with a chic up do and strong eye-make-up.  My only change would have been to add some sparkling jewellery such as an ear cuff or cocktail ring.

To me it doesn’t necessarily have serious wow factor but it does have some sort of ethereal quality and Cate’s glowing complexion really gives it a lift.

I always find a delight and sense of excitement in Cate’s sartorial choices and this just proves how different her style is. But what do you think?

And this is why she’s everyone’s favorite! This is so gorgeous on her. I love the monochromatic affect. Seriously, who else could pull this off? So pretty!

    • Kate March 1, 2014 at 14:58 #

I totally agree with you! She looks gorgeous!

      • Lisa March 1, 2014 at 17:52 #

        Everything you said.

    • Tatiana March 1, 2014 at 17:31 #

True! This proves how her style is one of a kind and no one comes close.

      My words exactly.

  2. Dean March 1, 2014 at 14:37 #

The colour looks nice, but I can’t get passed that it looks like a rug.

I agree, sadly. Or a western costume.

Perfection. So differnt, so unique, so Cate.

    • Rici March 1, 2014 at 17:56 #

Those words are appropriate for almost everything she wears.

    • Alison March 2, 2014 at 01:33 #

Yes, it is a perfect look.

  4. Ramsay March 1, 2014 at 14:48 #

Superbely chic and different – she is in a league of her own

  5. henrique March 1, 2014 at 14:54 #

This is FANTASTIC. I’m wondering if someone will top this at the Oscars!

    • Charlotte March 1, 2014 at 17:47 #

Me too. This is flawless and perfect.

  6. msd March 1, 2014 at 15:01 #

A limp, washed out look. It’s like she just came from the airport after 15 hours on a plane (which is probably the case). I guess we can rule out Valentino for the Oscars, though ….?

  7. marcel March 1, 2014 at 15:12 #

Pocahontas called. She wants her dress back.
Sorry but it is a No for me. I love Kate and love Valentino’s team work but I just don’t feel this dress.

    • marcel March 1, 2014 at 15:16 #

      * Cate. not Kate.

  8. Alina March 1, 2014 at 16:23 #

    I shouldn’t like it, but I do.

  9. Tatiana March 1, 2014 at 17:20 #

This collection is amazing and I was hoping someone was adventurous enough to wear this. I suits her to perfection and she is the only one who can make this work. My favorite look pre-oscars.

  10. kane March 1, 2014 at 17:25 #

She looks lovely, but this is just way too costumey. She might have gotten away with it, but the hem sent it over the edge for me.

I didn’t think much of this look on the runway but I mean if anyone can make it work it has to be Cate. And she does. Her complexion is flawless and the dress just speaks volumes to me and only thanks to her. To me this is BDOTW-worthy.

The fabric is complicated and difficult to wear, but on her it works. It shouldn’t, but it does. BDOTW worthy and I hope this is a good omen that she is going to bring it on Oscar night .

  13. Lisa March 1, 2014 at 17:51 #

Now this is on a league of its own. Everything is exquisite, different and should belong to a museum. One of the best looks of the year in my opinion.

  14. Rici March 1, 2014 at 17:56 #

And after some lackluster choices, the queen is back doing the best she can (apart from acting): rocking couture like a boss. I’m bowing down to you Cate.

  15. Cristina March 1, 2014 at 17:59 #

I’m obsessed with this. The dress, the make up her presence. So chic and typical of her. Best of the week, even if it is just Saturday.

  16. Nat39 March 1, 2014 at 18:08 #

Different, unique, unexpected. I love it.

  17. fatima March 1, 2014 at 18:50 #

It’s unique and I like the color. It’s appropriate for an event like this and it compliments her style.

  18. Lucrezia March 1, 2014 at 19:02 #

Simply stunning from head to toe. Gorgeous and BDOTW!

  19. Lina March 1, 2014 at 20:05 #

While in the runway it is not very flattering, Cate manages to elevate it to the next level and make it jaw dropping. I also love the Nicholas Kirkwood sandals as they complement the look quite well.

  20. Claire March 1, 2014 at 20:56 #

    Fantastic look and styling.

  21. Amber March 1, 2014 at 22:59 #

I hate the fringe and the color. It looks like she’s wearing straw.

  22. Fiona - Perth March 2, 2014 at 00:40 #

Definitely unique and something only she has the carriage and confidence to pull off without looking like she tries. Love this on her (would probably hate it on anyone else :))

  23. CreoleLady March 2, 2014 at 01:15 #

No. That fringe is just plain ugly imo. Her expression in this picture makes me think she’s not entirely convinced either.

  24. Alison March 2, 2014 at 01:32 #

One of my favorite dresses of the couture week and she does it justice. BDOTY for me.

  25. Kerry March 2, 2014 at 02:50 #

She looks like a million dollars there. Chic, edgy and comfortable with what she is wearing.

  26. Robbie March 2, 2014 at 10:56 #

On anyone else this would look like a dusty old rug, but on Cate this is just incredible. Can’t wait to see what she wears tonight.

    • gabis March 7, 2014 at 13:47 #

I agree but I’m not that much amazed. She looks great thanks to her inner beauty and presence, impeccable fitting and minimalist styling.

  27. Markness March 2, 2014 at 13:12 #

PAK! This should be on the BDOTW. I love it! Cate has this amazing quality of pulling anything off with class and sophistication. I have high hopes for your Oscars gown gurl. We know you’re gonna win so make an everlasting statement! :D

  28. Anne Gallagher March 3, 2014 at 05:35 #

I have to confess that I am smitten with this Valentino collection, and no one but Cate Blanchett can pull this off this gown quite as well.
