Oh, I have sooo missed your predictions, FC! Really happy!

  2. Cole February 24, 2014 at 19:42 #

Congrats Catherine! That is fantastic that they consulted you.

  3. ram February 24, 2014 at 19:44 #

so funny to see the older actresses in model’s bodies hahaha LOL!! i dont like lawrence choise, not for Oscar night at least…. great choise for Julia and Lupita!!!

  4. Nat39 February 24, 2014 at 19:44 #

Look 28 from Giambattista Valli (chosen for Cate Blanchett) was my fave from the collection. I was thinking for Allison Williams (she has the frame to carry it off to perfection and it would bring out her blue eyes beautifully) but it would be great for Cate too. She will be a strong contender for my best dressed if she wears this gown at the Oscars.

Also the choice for Julia Roberts is perfect. Love.

But I certainly want to see more than that bland Zac Posen gown for Amy Adams. And I won’t be applauding if JLaw wears that Dior gown.

    • ram February 24, 2014 at 19:46 #

      i’m with you on J Law’s dress…

    • Nat39 February 24, 2014 at 20:18 #

…I do think that JLaw would look adorable in that gown but it’s not a winning look for the grand event like Oscars. I’m hoping it will be a custom.

    • Rashmi February 24, 2014 at 21:33 #

Agree! I think the choices for Cate and Julia Roberts are perfect. So hope Cate wears that Valli gown!

  5. gabis February 24, 2014 at 19:52 #

Wow, I LOVED and second all their choices except for the Jennifer Lawrence one. Pretty sure she’s gonna wear something much more puffy and fuzzy than a column gown.

  6. Christy February 24, 2014 at 19:54 #

The looks chosen for Cate and Lupita are flawless. *fingers crossed*

    • EmmaWoodhouse February 24, 2014 at 20:12 #

Totally just came here to say that! :)

  7. Carrie February 24, 2014 at 19:55 #

Congrats to you on being chosen to contribute to the feature! Great pics as always.

  8. Yeliz February 24, 2014 at 19:57 #

LOVE the gowns chosen for Lupita and Cate. Would really love to see them wearing those stunning masterpieces.

  9. nthirank February 24, 2014 at 20:01 #

Your pick for Lupita and Cate Blanchett is spot on!!

  10. molly February 24, 2014 at 20:05 #

Jennifer had said that a vintage Dior gown was her top pick back a couple weeks ago but if she does go with something current, I would love to see your pick! It would be very fun and unexpected.

  11. Prudence February 24, 2014 at 20:27 #

I disagree with every look except the one for Julia Roberts, that would be a nice change for her. Jlaw in that pizza dress is a tragic choice.

  12. Tamia February 24, 2014 at 20:33 #

LOVE your choices for Lupita and June (an especially refreshing look) but FC the look for J-Law; really?!? I know you’d not be a fan if she wore that dress to the Oscars.

  13. Joy February 24, 2014 at 20:35 #

I’m SO excited for Sunday!! These are all great picks except Jennifer Lawrence. I have my fingers crossed for Lupita! Cate would be SO gorgeous in the chosen gown. And I LOVE the choice for Sandra. I’m loving every choice except Jennifer Lawrence, it’s sorta boring & not spectacular enough for the awards. And actually it does remind me of pizza! Oh and I like the chosen gown for Amy, but it seems sort of safe compared to all the killer looks she’s pulled off this award season. But she would look lovely in the color.

  14. Ysatis February 24, 2014 at 20:41 #

According to the Dailymail, Amy Adams is going to wear Victoria Beckham.

I love the Elie Saab gown but it’s a bit too much for Lupita’s small frame. I would love her to wear a custom design inspired by this gown just a little toned down.

The dress for Julia Roberts is perfect.

  15. H February 24, 2014 at 20:44 #

Fashion Critic, congrats on being picked up, if someone can definitely do these stuff, is undoubtly you. Well done!

  16. dee February 24, 2014 at 21:25 #

I love the pick for Cate. That would be perfect and memorable. I like the picks for Julia, Meryl, Sandra, Amy, and Sally. I don’t know about that gown for Lupita. It may overwhelm her. I don’t like the picks for Judi Dench or JLaw.

  17. Jai February 24, 2014 at 21:43 #

The Amy Adams gown is completely snoozeworthy (thus somewhat appropriate for her), and I’d hope Cate Blanchett could do better than a strapless gown, but I love the J.Law pick.

  18. Teleholic February 24, 2014 at 22:04 #

Reminds me of your fantastic wish-lists. Congrats!

  19. DivaDebbi (Beauty and Fashion blog) February 24, 2014 at 22:24 #

Congrats FC! What a fantastic honor. I would love to see Meryl Streep in something elegant for a change. Fingers crossed, but she always looks like she just put something out of her closet on, 10 minutes before arrival.

    Loved Cate and Julia.

  20. CreoleLady February 24, 2014 at 22:46 #

Very cool, congrats! Can’t wait to see if any of these wishes come true.

  21. Valissa February 24, 2014 at 23:15 #

I agree with everything except the Valli for Cate. I know that most people would love to see her in it but I don’t think she will go for such a generic piece. I can imagine somebody like Lupita picking that instead actually. Although the Elie Saab will look glorious on her (I’m not a fan of big ball gowns but if she can pull it off then why not?)
I love your picks for Julia and Sally. Both would look fantastic in that Zuhair Murad and Zac Posen respectively.
Either way I can not wait for the Oscars!!

  22. Leigh February 24, 2014 at 23:19 #

I’m hoping Cate dons that sparkling green Armani Prive gown from a few seasons back (2011?) that no one seems to have worn.

    • Prudence February 25, 2014 at 00:26 #

omgggg i know exactly which one you are talking about and i fully agree!!

      • Leigh February 25, 2014 at 01:26 #

I know. She wears Armani Prive, so fingers crossed it’s been kept on hold for her all this time!

  23. kane February 25, 2014 at 00:19 #

I love the choice for Sandra and am absolutely floored by Cate and Julia. And the dress chosen for Lupita is still so incredibly divine.

  24. Dhppy February 25, 2014 at 00:47 #

I’m so happy to see you get the exposure you deserve, FC. Here’s hoping Jennifer Lawrence gets an exciting gown this time.

  25. Bec February 25, 2014 at 01:18 #

If Cate and Lupita wear those dresses, I will die….DIE! <3 <3

  26. Leela February 25, 2014 at 01:40 #

Love Cate, Lupita & Julia Roberts. Can’t get on board Jennifer Lawrence’s choice. Looks like a dress from the 90s.
I hated Dior’s last few shows so I don’t have high expectations for Lawrence.

  27. ysh87 February 25, 2014 at 06:54 #

I love your choice for Lupita, FC. It would be a great departure for her from the type of gowns she’s been wearing. Not to mention she would look breathtaking in it. If there ever was an Oscar worthy gown, that’s it.

I’m not too fond of the GV gown for Cate. It’s beautiful and everything and I’m sure she would look breathtaking in it, but I feel like it does not look regal enough for the Queen.

LOVE the choice for Julia and June Squibb.

I really really like the Dior gown for Jennifer, but like many on here mentioned, not sure if it’s appropriate for the Oscars.

  28. Ella February 25, 2014 at 07:49 #

If Lupita wears that gown….I will die. Stunning! And Cate….I couldn’t have picked a better gown for her

Just did a little dance for you in my London flat! How exciting that you are contributing to US Weekly!!!!

You are hands down, one of the few people I will actually read and take your critiques to heart. You, respectfully, know your shit and it was a pleasure to make the call to roll you into our circle of people who have something SMART to say. Bravo. And thanks again, Catherine.

Thanks Sasha, you are so sweet to say that.

      Much appreciated.

  31. sasha February 25, 2014 at 18:57 #

i don’t know if my last comment posted. Always a pleasure to have a true blue critic who has something smart and sane to say grace the UsWeekly web or our pages. Many thanks Catherine. Let’s do more. xoxo

    Adoringly, Sasha

  32. Mia February 25, 2014 at 21:13 #

I loved your choice for Julia Roberts, how gorgeous she would be in this dress!
I honestly hated the choices for Cate, Sally, J. Law (Actually, I could see Sally Hawkins in June’s dress and Cate Blanchet in Meryl’s). Not sure about Lupita and Amy Adams (I’m expecting so much more from these two).
    The others are just ok.

  33. Nadine February 25, 2014 at 23:10 #

Yours are soooo much better than vogue.com!

  34. Jess2 February 28, 2014 at 12:46 #

    Eeek!! How exciting Catherine!!
I adore your choices!! If Meryl wears your pick I will probably squeal a little. I also have my fingers crossed for the Julia and Cate looks.

However, if Judi wears the Valentino I may cry a little.

  35. Katja March 1, 2014 at 15:20 #

I really hope Amy Adams will choose something better – I desperately don’t want her to wear anything so bland.
I love the choices for Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench, Lupita Nyong’o (I would die if she wore it!!),Julia Roberts and June Squibb.
I want Meryl Streep to wear some colour, not black again. I would love to see Jennifer Lawrence wearing Look 52 from Dior Fall 2012 Couture Collection (http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/slideshow/F2012CTR-CDIOR/#52)- I loved it and never had a chance to see it on the red carpet.
And of course I have highest hope for Cate Blanchett – she must wear something magnificent – something very dramatic from Alexander McQueen or Armani Privé.
