Amy Adams In Frocktalk by Kristin Burke – 16th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards

Amy Adams In Frocktalk by Kristin Burke - 16th Annual Costume Designers Guild AwardsAmy Adams joined the chic set, including Crystal Reed, Olivia Munn, Mindy Kaling and Kiernan Shipka, at the 16th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Saturday (February 22).

The ‘American Hustle’ actress, who received the 2014 Lacoste Spotlight Award, wore a Frocktalk by Kristin Burke long-sleeve dress in a rich teal hue that was punctuated by delicately embroidered flowers at the shoulder and waist with Irene Neuwirth jewels and Jimmy Choo ‘Vibe’ peep-toes.

With an ode to old Hollywood glamour, the sophisticated gown didn’t skimp on a touch of sultriness with its backless detail and thigh-high slit.

Completing the effect, she wore a light-pink lippie and curled her flame-red tresses into retro waves, which were only enhanced by the colour of the dress.

Pure elegance?

I don’t understand this either. The floral embroidery, the two button details in front, the cut, the material… this is like, a dressy Chinese night gown. You can see the inspiration behind it.

The color is great on her. Love the long sleeves and the back. I like the retro idea but in practice the upper bodice verges on costume (imo). It doesn’t have the modern fit it needs to make it work. Maybe the picture doesn’t do it justice, though.

Ok, I have to say this, here it comes…

There are other shades of red hair than “FLAME”.

I already that I’m going to get a raincloud of negativity thundering towards me for this because it’s irrelevant etc. but I’ve been dying to say it for like 6 months now, since it seems to be the only adjective/shade that red hair is described with in this blog. :D I’m sorry, I really love you FC, follow this site every day, it’s just that this has been bugging me for so long! :D

I want to surrender to the retro-vibe the dress is giving me. But it doesn’t seem right in so many places, it’s a shame. The colours, the detailing and her hair are lovely though!
