Laura Whitmore In Warehouse – Elle Style Awards 2014

Laura Whitmore In Warehouse - Elle Style Awards 2014

Joining Rita Ora and Suki Waterhouse, Laura Whitmore attended the 2014 Elle Style Awards in London’s One Embankment.

Bringing a touch of the high street to the glamorous red carpet, Laura chose a white sheer shirt tucked into a metallic purple mini skirt by sponsor of the evening Warehouse.

While I think the skirt is great and taps into the sports luxe and surfer girl trends of the season, I can’t help but think this would be more suited to a launch event rather than an awards ceremony.

I think it’s highly commendable that Laura has opted for high street rather than designer but this just feels a little too casual, especially when compared to the other looks on the red carpet.

For me, the crisp white works well against the metallic skirt but the shoes really let the look down. I really think Laura should have chosen a pair of patent pumps to tie in with the modern, futuristic edge of the look. Do you agree?

The shoes are a not good with this look. It’s ok but pretty casual at this type of event.

Tacky and underdressed for the event.

I thought the shoes were bad, but I hate how huge her clutch is.
Her shirt with the lining underneath also looks cheap. She should’ve stuck with the skirt, worn an open white dress shirt that’s not so sheer, and pointy fun heels. See, not so hard!

Valiant effort, but it comes too close to looking like a Chloe Sevigny wanna-be. The Sev has a PhD in Making What Would Look Tacky on Someone Else Look Awesomesauce and Edgy.

Different shoes and a smaller clutch (or even a mini quilted Chanel chain-strap shoulder bag) would have helped, but agreed- she is quite underdressed for this level of an event.
