Sally Hawkins In Mulberry – 2014 BAFTAs

Sally Hawkins In Mulberry - 2014 BAFTAs

Sally Hawkins joined her ‘Blue Jasmine’ co-star Cate Blanchett on the red carpet at The Royal Opera House in London on Sunday (February 16) for the 2014 BAFTAs.

British luxury house Mulberry created a bespoke gown for the British actress.

Her fil coupe jacquard three-quarter sleeved gown emphasized with a full skirt gathered at the waist and a dipped hem, was styled with Mulberry leather pumps in a complementary blue hue.

I love the carefree hair which works perfectly for her chic look, but I have a feeling this love won’t be shared.

The dress is nice, but the styling lets it down.

I have to say she looks like a refugee from a 1980’s Laura Ashley store. The dress would work if someone decided whether it should be long or cocktail length. This pseudo tea length just looks clunky somehow. The shoes and styling are uninspired. And the hair . . . oh, the hair . . . it’s just way too undone and looks a fright with all that fuzziness.

I love the dress, hate the shoes and hair. The matching shoes combined with the conservative dress bring to mind the way you match children’s shoes to their dresses. This dress needed a more adult shoe. The hair is just messy to me. I don’t think it looks undone. To me is looks un-brushed. The dress is gorgeous though, particularly for a winter event and it fits her beautifully.
