Michelle Obama In Carolina Herrera – White House State Dinner

Michelle Obama In Carolina Herrera - White House State Dinner

The White House State Dinner has become a date in the diary that I value as much as any major red carpet event, because it’s when the First Lady really gets to shine.

I mean, who can forget that jaw-dropping Alexander McQueen gown Michelle Obama wore back in 2011 or the Marchesa dress worn in 2012?

The First Lady didn’t disappoint at the State Dinner hosted in honor of French President Francois Hollande on Tuesday evening (February 11), wearing a dramatic Carolina Herrera ball gown with Sutra jewels.

Her gown featured a black beaded embroidery appliqué scallop-edged top over a liberty-blue silk faille corset with a wide black velvet belt detail and liberty blue silk faille inverted pleat long skirt and train. This is certainly one for the record books.

Oozing class, femininity and sleeves (some may be delighted to learn), this look hits all the right style notes and is certainly worthy of such a regal occasion.

Along with Cate Blanchett, Michelle gives me many goosebump– inducing moments of which this ranks quite highly.
