Jennifer Connelly In Chanel Couture – ‘Aloft’ Berlin Film Festival Premiere

Jennifer Connelly In Chanel Couture - 'Aloft' Berlin Film Festival PremiereJennifer Connelly attended the ‘Aloft’ premiere, held today (February 12) during the 64th Berlinale International Film Festival at Berlinale Palast in Germany.

The actress, who earlier wore an impossibly chic Chanel frock to the film’s photocall, gave us a repeat performance of Chanel. Her black and white, feather and tulle gown from the Fall 2013 Couture collection was statement-making and sophisticated.

Both diaphanous and slightly directional, the sculpted, backless dress featured an interesting grouping of mixed textures that was nearly reminiscent of an abstract piece of art.

A small black Chanel bag was a simple, non-distracting pairing. She likewise skipped major jewels, letting the gown have centre stage.

I love that she finished the look with radiant, natural makeup, including a light pink lip, adding a final touch of edge via her knotted, braided updo.

Were you missing the wide black, dropped waistband seen on the runway?

I love the dress, I’m not sure I love Jennifer’s makeup.

Amazing! With both Diane Kruger and Tilda Swinton giving it their fashion best this week, you know you’ve got a magic look on your hands if it manages to outdo both those ladies… by far. I’ve rarely liked a Chanel gown but Jennifer makes it look divine. Really, I can only bow in awe.

BDOTW (and early contender for Y?).

I guess I am in the minority. I don’t really like this dress and I think it makes her look so long-waisted and out of proportion. I think it overwhelms her both proportionally and with its business.

      Guess that should be busyness.

You’re not alone. She looks horrible here mostly because of the dress. Never really liked Chanel !

This is why I love her! Thank god she wore it without the unnecessary addition of that belt. This look is daring, cool and edgy. BDOTW-worthy!

This is so good – I do wish it was lower by an inch on the bust – but this very good – directional and glamorous at the same time – my best dressed this week

Raise your hands if you believe she’s will be one of the earliest celebrities to wear upcoming Louis Vuitton’s pieces by Nicolas Ghesquiere. Every time Jennifer Connelly makes another fashion statement, another angel got his wings.

She looks so very cool, I just love this!

This is why she’s one of my favourites – daring, edgy, gorgeous.

She’s one of my favourites too. I wish we would see her more on the red carpet because she’s constantly amazing

I would have liked it better with the black belt to hide the spot were one pattern ends and the other begins. It was cleverly done on the runway although I must admit that if she had sticked to the belt her black clutch would have looked weird. Maybe she could have used a white then instead – or none.

It looks soooo much better without the dropped waistband. What a great look for her, so sophisticated and fashionable.

Not at all! I love it so much more the way Jennifer wore it – perfection!

  13. Faellie February 12, 2014 at 23:28 #

Modern sophistication and flattering with it. Love.

I love this ! I have missed Jennifer’s fresh take on the red carpet, and this is just why; its both original and beautiful. BTOTW !

I’m with everyone else who’s commented so far; I find it more pleasing without the belt, and think it’s more appropriate for a dressy event the way Jennifer wore it. This is actually the first time in a long time that I’ve liked a Chanel gown, and I think Jennifer looks fab and original.

ITA I haven’t liked Chanel in a long time, but this look is great! Glad she ditched the waistband. The hair and accessories complement the dress well.

  16. Bec February 12, 2014 at 23:18 #

Don’t miss the low belt at all, but I would have liked to have seen a thin black belt at her waist!

I don’t miss that weird belt at all, I’m glad that she opted not to wear it. I like the top part of this gown more than the skirt, but overall she looks gorgeous.

  18. Mandy February 12, 2014 at 22:36 #

I love this without the belt, she looks wonderful.

  19. arwa February 12, 2014 at 22:35 #

I think it’s much better without that waistband. It’s outdated and gave the dress an unflattering shape. However, it looks very nice on Jennifer.

Jennifer is wears it much better. I like her version. She looks gorgeous!
