Renée Fleming In Vera Wang – Pepsi Super Bowl XLVIII Pregame Show

Renée Fleming In Vera Wang - Pepsi Super Bowl XLVIII Pregame Show

Renée Fleming performed the national anthem ahead of the Super Bowl XLVIII held on Sunday (February 2) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The opera singer wore a custom Vera Wang black long-sleeved gown with a pleated accent at the waist and an ivory silk-faille floor-length wrap coat with an exposed shoulder and draped detail.

If this was designed to keep the cold weather at bay I will give this look a pass; otherwise, there is just too much going on, and I especially don’t like the restrictedness of the arm from the draped detail. This could’ve been great, but it’s a no from me.

I thought Harry Potter had ended filming

Since it was ice cold, I will give this a pass

While not great, I don’t find this so bad. Too much going on, yes, but in terms of straitjacket-confinement I have seen worse.

I disagree. It looked amazing on the screen. And as it was so cold in New York it had to be warm. It was perfect for the opera singer!

Agreed. Perfect for the opera signer performing the anthem at the stadium on a cold day.

I agree it fits the opera singer perfect. However not so much a red carpet look though.

    I think it’s a strong, eye-catching (and weather-appropriate) look for the performance.

She reminds me a little bit of Katie Couric. Besides that, I think this dress is the complete opposite of Janet Jackson’s dress back in the day.

I loved it! Watching it on screen, it was very opera esque. I thought she looked regal. It went right along with the style of her singing the National Anthem, vs the usual style it is sung for sporting events.

It was brilliant on screen and perfect for a Diva.

Given the event and the temperature, I like this look.
