Rihanna In Lanvin – MAC Cosmetics Launches Viva Glam Rihanna

Rihanna In Lanvin - MAC Cosmetics Launches Viva Glam Rihanna

Rihanna dazzled at the MAC Cosmetics Launch of Viva Glam Rihanna at the MAC Store SoHo on Wednesday (January 29) in New York City.

The songstress showed off her new collaboration with the brand in a head-to-toe Lanvin look from the Spring 2014 collection that was high on metal and shine—and, well, glam.

She paired a light-pink metallic, taffeta lamé blazer with a silver ‘DREAM’ liquid lamé T-shirt, all powered up by a royal blue silk skirt with a flounced hem.

Rihanna accessorized with more luster via a gold lamé printed scarf and patent pointy pumps.

Naturally, her makeup was a focal point here and it still managed to stand out amid all that glitz. A sultry, lavender-tinged smokey eye and an intensely red pout punctuated her look, which was topped off by hyper-sleek, straight locks.

Yes, Ri! That chick with a THOUSAND looks! She can serve absolutely anything.

She looks like a flight attendant who needs to size up a size or two on the skirt. Meh.

  4. Yeliz January 30, 2014 at 17:28 #

I like the top but not the whole look.

  5. liz January 30, 2014 at 15:13 #

$1,845 for that ill-fitting, wrinkled, 80s-reject skirt. BYE.

Hidious. Too messy and too shiny. She should have gone with either to top or the bottom, then adding a more neutral, non-shiny counterpart.

i hate it. too much going on

Hair and makeup are perfect but I think this is one of her worst looks ever. She looks like a disco secretary.

    • Southern Cross January 30, 2014 at 11:28 #

+1. “Disco secretary”, very well put! I really don’t like the outfit; it may be demure but I find all those shiny pieces together mismatching and tasteless, an icky 70s throwback.

  9. Cara January 30, 2014 at 09:12 #

Very shiny..tho thats not a bad thing. I like the skirt.

Finally a Rihanna look that shows some real style. Love it. BDOTW please 🙂

  11. Elizabeth January 30, 2014 at 03:48 #

I thought this was Zoe Saldana.

This is such a demure look for Riri! I love her hair and makeup here.

  13. Pedro January 30, 2014 at 02:33 #

    Riri looks amazing!

Rihanna + Lanvin can be fabulous. I have been a Lanvin fan but recently, not so much. The shiny fabrics look like walking fire hazards. Not feeling it.

Man..she can wear anything..on someone else that much metallic would be OTT, Rihanna puts it on her body and it’s glam..but not for me!

    • Riotgurll January 30, 2014 at 07:24 #

Glam is the exact adjective that came to my mind! She is working it…and looks fabulous! The clothes are in themselves demure for her, but she’s giving them some attitude!

  16. Christine January 30, 2014 at 00:36 #

This is not a good look.

  17. Markness January 30, 2014 at 00:05 #

There’s something about this look that I love. I think Riri carries this well.

  18. kane January 29, 2014 at 23:43 #

Wow, considering what we usually get from her I find this great: fully clothed and all, no neon-pink animal prints on some onesie… The shirt of course has to go in favour of some more neutral option, but I really can’t hate this by comparison.

    • sara January 30, 2014 at 00:42 #

+1 x100! Compared to some of her other looks, I’ll take this any day.

    • Alina January 30, 2014 at 05:04 #

      I totally agree.

    • Anne January 30, 2014 at 13:15 #

This is undoubtedly overcooked, but I agree that this is a step in the right direction for her. Being actually clothed suits her

      • dee January 30, 2014 at 15:46 #

        I agree.

It’s an overload of metal and shine in a variety of colours, way too much for my liking.

    • SilentVisitor January 29, 2014 at 23:32 #

+1; It appears as if the skirt is too tight

    • Valissa January 30, 2014 at 01:50 #

All this does is prove that what works on the runway doesn’t necessarily work on the red carpet. She should’ve taken at least 2 pieces off (the jacket and the scarf) an I might’ve liked this look.

      • Miguel Angel January 30, 2014 at 05:00 #

I was thinking the same thing. The scarf and the jacket ruined the look for me

      • Nat39 January 30, 2014 at 05:48 #

I’d settle if she at least ditched the shiny shirt and pulled her hair back into a sleek ponytail (or leave the hair down but ditch the scarf). Even the flounced hem (which is rather cheap-looking) is bothering me, I’d rather see a simple sleek pencil skirt.

        • Rebecca Z January 30, 2014 at 16:37 #

+1 Replace that cheap looking skirt.
