Skylar Grey In Michael Costello – 2014 Grammy Awards

SkylarGreyInMichaelCostello2014GrammyAwards

Skylar Grey took to the red carpet at Sunday’s (January 26) 2014 Grammy Awards, hosted at the Staples Center in sunny Los Angeles.

The ‘Don’t Look Down’ songstress wore a design by Michael Costello with a nod to the ever-popular nude-hued trend.

The high-neck gown was a mix of fashion and rock ‘n roll, made of perforated leather with on-trend cutouts and an exaggerated fishtail silhouette. Skylar accented the gown with glamorous and dramatic two-tier teardrop earrings.

The singer continued to nude trend with neutral makeup and simple, pulled-back hair. The nude on nude on nude isn’t my favourite look. I love taking the leather trend to the red carpet, especially for a music industry event, but the colourless palette washed out the singer. I would have loved just a hint of colour, say in a red lip.

What do you think of Skylar’s nude Grammy look?

    Terrible, washed out look.

The fit is great but the nude leather blends into her skin, making the tattoos really pop, not a very pleasant effect, too much/too washed out, factor in that hole in the middle and the whole look is just not very appealing.

    It’s like she’s wearing a length of skin. I can’t!!!

From far away it may look like she walked down the red carpet in her birthday suit. Tattoos look nice here but it doesn’t help enough.

    All I see is Band-Aid.

that color against her skin is not a good look at all and lets not even get started on those dreadful tattoos.

I think the dress is cool and event appropriate in theory but not that well executed – agree with you on the red lip.

The gown is washing her out and the tattoos are too distracting.

I actually kind of like the effect it creates with her tattoos–I mean it’s very ‘Rock ‘n Roll’, and this is the Grammy’s, but as Angela said, it doesn’t save the overall look.

Yes, too bad it washes her out.

I love a good cut out but this one isn’t working and I do think some colour would have been good.

    Ugly dress.

Why is Nude even a trend? In this case it’s ruined leather as a lovely material, ruined a lovely dress design, and failed to highlight the beauty of a lovely woman. From what I’ve seen the rest of the nude designs have done this to everyone who followed this unfortunate trend. Why not save “nude” for genuine nudity and use beautiful colors if you’re trying to dress beautiful women in beautiful clothing!

The dress does not work, the hole cheapens it and is incongruous w the leather…it should have been trimmed in a dark contrast piping so it popped…instead it washed itself out…the perforations fight the tattoos and her hair should have been long and wavy to contrast w the nude color..he could have used eyelet at the base or a great design cut out of the fish tail instead of at the top…the dress was a total failure!!
