Laura Whitmore In LA Mania – National Television Awards 2014

Laura Whitmore In LA Mania - National Television Awards 2014

Laura Whitmore made quite an appearance on the red carpet of the 2014 National Television Awards at London’s O2 on Wednesday (January 22).

Not one to shy away from trying new looks, this monochrome LA Mania dress from the Spring 2014 collection is no exception.

With a midriff-baring front cut-out panel, dramatic stepped hem and really unnecessary grid-like panel lining, this was one of the most striking dresses of the evening, but for all the wrong reasons.

Fortunately Laura did claw back some sartorial points by opting for a pair of simple black Kurt Geiger pumps and a white clutch which blended in with the stand-out dress.  A chic, loose up-do and a flash of red lippy pulled the look together and some Stephen Webster jewels were the finishing touch.

I’m always keen to see stars try out new and experimental looks but is it just me or is this just too much? Laura can get it so right normally so I’m sure this just a minor blip…

It looks better in the lookbook, but I think Laura looks nice too.

It does look better in the look book

I like this look. It’s a fun quirky design. I would’ve appreciated a pop of color, besides her lipstick, though.

I don’t usually like this kind of look, but it works for me here. She looks really cute and comfortable in this outfit which really sells it. No “Look at me” vibe coming from her.

This look would’ve been fine had it not been for that additional grid-like panel. It turns the clean, sharp and on-trend modern drama into a craft project, just silly and unnecessary.

This is definitely my favorite look from this event!

Kinda like it in the look book. Somewhat less excited about it on Laura.

I’m glad she took a risk, and wore something fashion-forward. It seems like there were a lot of safe, boring looks at this event, but she brought it. I think it works!
