Emma Thompson In William Vintage – 2014 SAG Awards

Emma Thompson In 1930s William Vintage – 2014 SAG Awards

Emma Thompson laughed her way down the red carpet of the 2014 SAG Awards in Los Angeles tonight (January 18).

The nominee and ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ star wore a simple 1930s William Vintage gown with a beaded bird applique detailing on the shoulder.

And perhaps her biggest fashion statement of the night are the Christian Louboutin ‘Toboggan’ Rose gold glitter d’orsay flats–after all, who can forget her comedic Louboutin throwing episode at the Golden Globes?–clearly, she was ready for comfortable feet this time around!

A Lauren Merkin ‘Lucca’ clutch and silver earrings are the perfect accent to the look, while mauve lips, brown-rimmed eyes and glossy, blonde locks round things out.

Sure you can call the whole thing a big eccentric, but it’s perfectly Emma, and I love it all for her.

She looks like she is having fun. I can’t fault her for that but bless her heart. This is not a good look but I like that she is so cool.

      Pretty much.

Totally agree. At least the bird detail is kind of cool. :)

Great beaded aplique on the shoulder and I’m loving the relaxed, not really caring to much Emma.

I like this. That it’s vintage. The toga finish on the bottom, which I think informs the flats. The work together. It’s not just “lazy fun,” etc.

Emma is always utterly charming and terribly dressed…tonight is no exception.

Not a great look in my book.

I love the applique on the dress. It’s a bit casual but I’m cool with that. She has her own style. The only thing that seems off is the earrings.

She makes me smile, although this is… a bit of a mess, hehe.

I love Emma. She is always confident in her OWN choices.

I like this, tho I would have put different earrings on her. Maybe something art deco, dangly jet drops or coral. And the shoes may be comfy but they bring down the look. A kitten heel perhaps would have worked better. Love that she’s having fun and is comfortable in her own skin. She’s really beautiful and likeable.

I can’t say anything negative. I love how she appears to be having more fun this award season than anyone else. Gotta love that! Emma Thompson is an icon, just the way she is! Love that she dresses for herself.

About time we see more women being comfortable on the runway – There are plenty of beautiful flats for everyone.
End the reign of terror of high-heels, bleeding feet, squished toes and crazy-unnatural body postures in the name of contemporary ‘beauty’.

      totally agree with Naomie.
