Julia Roberts In Dolce & Gabbana – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Julia Roberts walked the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 12) in Beverly Hills, California.

Nominated for her role in ‘August: Osage County’ it was an important red carpet moment for Julia, who was clad in Dolce & Gabbana.

Julia is one of my all time favorite red carpet beauties and I love that she’s into menswear-inspired styles these days, like this spot-on look. Though, this choice for the Golden Globes isn’t her best. The black and white combo looks fabulous on her, as always, and the strapless silhouette with simple lines and a sparkly belt look lovely. But oh that white button down shirt just distracts from it it all.

What I do love though is her textured, beehive bun, smokey eye makeup and nude lip.

I’m curious: is this a winning look in your book?

If you’re gonna dress like that for the Golden Globes, please just stay at home !

Well, I guess for a Hollywod star going to an award show is like a day at the office pretty much, isn’t it? :-/

I just don’t get it. A good look spoiled by the white blouse.

    This is matronly and boring.

Her hair and makeup is absolutely perfect!!!

This just looks like a ‘been there done it, let the young ones do their thing’

This is typical Julia. Simple and elegant, however predictable and boring.

had she worn a skirt and shirt with that styling i would have loved it a lot more!

She looks like she’s chaperoning the event. This is such a no. I wish she’d gone with something more fashion forward. This look is so boring.

You know, Julia’s my favorite actress. But when it comes to the red carpet, she’s almost always a no. I wish she would bring the versatile she uses to play her characters into the red carpet so she can start looking like the huge movie star that she is.

Is she SO afraid of a really glamorous gown that she felt the need to wear a ‘shirt-dress’?

Hair and makeup are spectacular. That’s all I can say.

    She looks matronly in this.

god-awful in my book. maybe i was expecting too much from her but wow. i usually like menswear inspired but this almost looks like a joke.

One of my least favorites of the night.

This look just doesn’t work for me.

What on earth possessed her to put that shirt on?

It’s terrible. But honestly, nobody holds high hope about what Julia wears on the red carpet or off duty. She’s just never been one known for her style, nor keen on building a brand. So even if it’s terrible, it’s not a letdown – the anticipation wasn’t even up.

The casual white shirt is just wrong, it does ruin the look, unfortunately.

Sadly, nothing works for me here. From the white shirt which looks like it was tucked in to a simple black gown to the sparkly belt and the hairstyle.

I do love Julia Roberts…although everytime she hits the red carpet at a big event I immediately compare her look to the awe inspiring Vintage Valentino Oscar gown of 2001.
Anyway lovely hair and makeup and shes sticking to her current mensware inspired look so well done.

    This is very boring.
