Get The Look: Amber Heard at The Golden Globes

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards - ArrivalsA presenter at Sunday’s 2014 Golden Globe Awards, Amber Heard sparked in a midnight blue Atelier Versace gown. While the stunning actress wowed in the elegant frock, it was her romantic up-do and glamorous makeup that made the full exceptionally unique. Celebrity makeup artist Matthew VanLeewen collaborated with Amber to create a look accentuated her flawless features.

“Amber brought some of her own ideas to the mix, says Matthew. “She liked the idea of focusing on sultry chocolate eyes, creamy skin and soft nude lips.”

Here is how to recreate this glamorous look:

Face (complexion): Before priming the skin with Hourglass No.28 Primer Serum, Matthew moisturized Amber’s skin with Cle de Peau’s Gentle Nourishing Emulsion. “No. 28 hydrated beautifully but it also creates a magical finish,” he says. With skin prepped, Matthew concealed with Hourglass Hidden Corrective Conceal in Warm and followed with the Veil Fluid Makeup in Light Beige.

Eyes: The star of the look was Amber’s sultry, brown smoky eyes. To begin, Matthew chose the shell shade from the Hourglass Vol. 6 Eye Palette as a full lid shade (base). He continued to blend a bronze shimmery shade (Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Gypsy) into the crease and under the eyes. To intensify the bronze, apply the brown shade from the Vol. 6 palette in the same areas.

For unexpected touch of drama, line the eyes with a plum liner (MAC Eye Kohl in Prunella). “Amber brought some of her own ideas to the mix, says Matthew. “I also smudged the line with the black shadow from the palette,” he says. For added dimension, apply a high-shine pearl shadow to the inner corner of eyes.

Finally, top the eyes off with a coat of Hourglass Film Noir mascara. Allow the initial coat to dry prior to curling lashes. Add an extra layer of fun with individual lashes like Ardell Duralash Flare in Medium Black.

Cheeks: Matthew brought out the beauty of Amber’s face by applying the sheer rose shade from Hourglass Illume Crùme-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Sunset to her cheeks. He followed with a sheer champagne highlighter (Hourglass Illume Crùme-to-Powder Bronzer Due in Bronze Light). To mimic a moonlit glow, Matthew recommends going over the initial highlight with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light.

Lips: To wrap the look up, Matthew chose a liner and lipstick combination. Start by lining lips with Hourglass Trace Liner in Bare and follow with a swipe of Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet CrĂšme Lipstick in Whisper.

The finally result was a glamorous yet understated look that encapsulated the best of bronze and gold-y tones. Skip the traditional dark smoky eye and try this updated look for you next night out.
