Sally Hawkins In Emilia Wickstead – New York Film Critics Circle Awards

Sally Hawkins In Emilia Wickstead - New York Film Critics Circle Awards

Sally Hawkins joined her ‘Blue Jasmine’ co-star Cate Blanchett and Melonie Diaz and Octavia Spencer on the red carpet for the 2013 New York Film Critics Circle Awards Ceremony held at The Edison Ballroom on Monday (January 6) in New York City.

The Golden Globe (best supporting actress) nominee teased her brunette locks into a curly updo while wearing a long-sleeved blush embroidered dress with pearl appliqués which nips her in at the waist.

Her vintage-inspired Emilia Wickstead Fall 2013 frock was styled with a matching satin Louboutin clutch, Thomas Sabo earrings and taupe Louboutin pumps, with a nude lip completing her look.

At first I was perplexed by the updo, but on reflection it adds an effervescent touch to a look which could otherwise have read matronly.

The length needs to be taken up A LOT. And the hair is just…no.

Agreed. This is why I don’t wear midi. If you’re not tall enough, it will make you look even shorter. I sadly have to stay away from it.

The hairdo is horribly unflattering, the length is awkward, the colour washes her out, she is stumpified, the makeup could’ve been more flattering. This isn’t working, she doesn’t look good.

      I agree.

+3, Completely agree on every point….NO.

The length is just awful–it makes what would be an okay dress just dreadful. Of all the things to pick, why pick this clunky dress?

Its not her fault -its Emilia Wickstead-enuf said- all her clothes are badly cut with stiff fabric which she is unable to work with!

I have to politely disagree. Emilia Wickstead has some beautiful pieces, and has had some excellent, memorable moments on the red carpet. And it would still be this actress’ choice to wear it, regardless.

The shoes are blah-coloured, the skirt too long. Don’t mind the hair that much by comparison.

Whoa, did she and Cate decide to do matchy matchy with the long, concealing brocade-ish dresses? I’m not getting the hair, it’s very Golden Girls especially when paired with the clothes.

The length of the dress is so much better on the runway and the hairdo is awful.
My best dressed at this event is Melonie Diaz.
