Designer of the Year & Couturier of the Year 2013 – Elie Saab

Designer of the Year Elie Saab

The king of the red carpet is none other than Elie Saab. This is the third year of his ravishing reign atop the Best Of list, scooping up the honour of Designer and Couturier of the Year.

The fashion darling of the celebrity set, the Lebanese designer consistently dazzles with looks that are trendsetting without being try-hard—and that are uncompromisingly beautiful. Nearly every major event, soiree and awards show has his name on it. With his sweeping gowns, deliciously embellished dresses and other magical confections, they are practically fit for royalty.

Indeed, he even created a wedding gown for a princess. Claire Lademacher, now Princess Claire of Luxembourg, walked down the aisle in his haute couture lace stunner in September.

Even then, perhaps the most memorable moment this past year was Elizabeth Banks’ take-your-breath-away entrance at the Berlin premiere of ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire;’ a silver delight from the Fall 2013 Couture collection. A close second, of course, was Taylor Swift, who wore a captivating crimson gown from her go-to designer at the 47th annual CMA Awards.

Also caught under the Elie Saab style spell is Fan Bingbing, who might just be his biggest fan, donning the designer a record four times during the Cannes Film Festival. Amy Adams, too, has had her own fair share of fashion victories at the hands of Elie.

With these enchanting entrees, can he ever be removed from his sartorially superior throne?

While I myself is one of elie saab biggest fan, but let’s face it, his designs feels a bit off and dare I say unimaginative lately . I must say couturier of the year should be Valentino, there are many jaw-droppers from the house like Nicole Kidman in cannes and who can forget Shu qi at the golden horse. Well, thats my opinion, though

FC! I went to the link of the ES wedding dress, and saw “What I wore to the Martini 150th Gala”, which of course piqued my interest. I can’t believe how stunning you are! I only recently discovered your blog, which is my new addiction, so I was very pleasantly surprised to see who has been behind the blog, so to speak. Also, you were dressed so nicely, obviously you have authority upon which you speak, since you’re quite the beautiful fashionista, yourself!

I want you to know I truly appreciate all the hard work you obviously put into this blog. It’s also apparent that your readers adore you. That’s really something since many bloggers don’t really interact with their readers, if they read their comments at all. I recently left my job, and this blog has brought some much needed distraction and enjoyment to my days. In fact, my husband has been struggling with what to get me for Cchristmas, not to menntion struggling financially since we’re down to one income. So I told him, I don’t need anything this year. I’m excited enough about the RCFA Best Of Year Awards! Each new post is like unwrapping a little present. Of course, he thinks I’m crazy, but he’s glad he’s off the hook!

So, I just want to say how much you’re appreciated, along with the others on your staff who undoubtedly do a great job as well. I can think of Rachel, Emily, and Binkie off the top of my head. So to all of you, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and a huge Thank You for all your excellent work this year. Looking forward to much more RCFA in 2014!

    Serenity (Elizabeth)

P.S. To all the RCFA readers and regular commenters–I enjoy you all so much, and learn from you all the time! Best wishes to you all this holiday season!

Serenity, this comment has really warmed my heart. Thank you. I am
always touched that my little musing can bring people like yourself
      moment of joy.

I am very lucky to have so many readers, like yourself, who are really
engaged in the site. I don’t know everything and from the comments, I
find myself learning something new everyday.

I hope you have an amazing Christmas. Some times being with the one
      you love is enough.

      Best Catherine xxxx

Definitely agreed! Love his designs even though some look the same.

I am thrilled that Mr. Saab won. He is, after all, ‘King of Couture’. I undoubted voted him couturier of the year. However, in the interest of switching it up a bit, especially from years past, I voted for Zuhair Murad for designer of the year. It seems to me that he has had just as many noteworthy red carpet looks this year, and his designs have more variety. I LOVE ES’s gowns, don’t get me wrong, and they are couture-worthy, without a doubt, but sometimes they can seem formulaic. I just wanted to give notice to another well-deserved designer as well. But I can’t be disappointed in this result. I have had many ‘oohs and aahs’ moments thanks to the great ‘King’.

I can’t think of a more worthy winner!

Hope his pieces will be worn beautifully during awards season!

I agree also! There can never be too much Elie Saab. All hail the King!
