Xu Qing In Zuhair Murad Couture – Van Cleef & Arpels Dinner

Xu Qing In Zuhair Murad Couture - Van Cleef & Arpels Dinner

Xu Qing swept onto the scene at the Van Cleef & Arpels dinner, held in Beijing, China over the weekend.

The Chinese actress wore a nude silk Zuhair Murad cap-sleeve ball gown, hand-embroidered in electric blue twigs, from the Fall 2013 Couture collection.

The epitome of gothic glamour, the elegance of this confection was intensified with the more sinister edge of those barren tree branches that twisted across the entire design. The skirt’s frothy tulle overlay delivered a sense of fairytale enchantment.

While the dress may have been a dark beauty, Xu complemented it with a lighter touch—minimal jewels, save for a cocktail ring, accessorized the look whilst a petal pink lip added a soft note.

I am in awe of this gorgeous look! I wouldn’t change a thing here! The embroidery on the gown is hauntingly beautiful. I also like the harmonious juxtaposition of the soft make up with the edgy design of the gown. The gown itself is a wonder. The design is edgy but at the same time the tulle layering transports this into fairy tale world.

She wears it better than the model. So stunning, very happy she kept her styling simple and let the gown speak for itself.

Can’t say I’m too fond of the tree branch embroidery but it’s a nice gown, fits her very well, and she looks lovely in it.

I’m not a fan of that eerie embroidery either. But I think the dress, itself, is lovely, and she looks wonderful in it. I like her hair, I think this dress was a bit of an edgier choice, which fits with her look.

I wish someone could wear this to the oscars- it just seems wasted on such an event 🙁

    • Catherine Kallon December 16, 2013 at 18:02 #

I think it is blue….The poor lighting is making it appear darker
