Kristen Wiig In Prada - 'Anchorman 2 The Legend Continues' New York Premiere

Kristen Wiig attended the ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ New York premiere alongside Christina Applegate and Meagan Good on Sunday evening (December 15) held at the Beacon Theatre.

The actress wore a Prada dual-colour dove-grey-and-salmon embroidered and embellished gown with gathered detailing.

As you know, I am not a fan of Prada gowns. In fact, I have only liked two this year: Lupita Nyong’o’s and Michelle Dockery’s.

This gown loses me from the empire-waist down.

There is just too much going on. I’m not a fan of the salmon – maybe a mellow dusky-pink would’ve worked better – nor do I like the front embroidered panel.

Bravo to Kristen for taking a risk with this look. Sadly, for me, it didn’t pay off on this occasion.

Don’t love the colour combo. This would have been absolutely divine if it were entirely dove grey. Beautiful from the top half, however.

Totally agree with you, I would’ve really liked this, had it been entirely in dove grey.

completely agree… I think the addition of the color panels killed it for me.

I wonder if this might have worked in some old Hollywood classic, not least in black & white.

  3. Christine December 16, 2013 at 11:25 #

    This is ugly

  4. marimba December 16, 2013 at 11:31 #

Old-Hollywood at it’s finest. Never thought I would put Kristen Wiig and BDOTY in the same sentence.

This dress would have had real potential were it not for the second color and the loose fitting around the armpits. :(

  6. Agi December 16, 2013 at 11:34 #

It looks like she walked of, of a costume movie set and didn’t bother to change.

This is one of the worst dress I have ever seen !
And the hair and the make up are bad too.

    • GirlOne December 16, 2013 at 14:50 #

I agree. Sadly a fail for Kristen.

  8. jeremyrain December 16, 2013 at 12:17 #

She looks like Princess Leia’s daughter. So 1970s.

  9. Evil Britta December 16, 2013 at 12:35 #

I didn’t recognise her at first. I don’t know if that’s a compliment or not, but it’s a change without looking like a costume and I think that’s a plus. Beyond that… hm..

This looks like an old Jean Harlow dress ran smack into a costume from Ivanhoe and the resulting mess was dragged through some tomato soup. Oh, the horror.

    • CreoleLady December 16, 2013 at 15:30 #

LMAO! Yes, this dress is a bit of a mess.

Not a fan of this dress either. Frankly, it would have been helped if she had worn a bra. Love her as an actress, but her fashion choices are often wrong.

This reminds me of the wedding dress Sandra Bullock wore in The Proposal. Yuck.

Prada needs to start considering retiring clothes design and sticking to accessories because this, is a disaster.

  14. Carla December 16, 2013 at 17:13 #

She needs to start wearing a bra

Maybe I’m a nutcase, but I really like this. It’s so different, but I find it beautiful-different. I didn’t like Michelle Dockery’s Prada at all, but this sings, to me at least. The embroidery is beautiful, and the gray almost reads lilac on my screen, which looks really pretty from where I sit. Also, I am in LOVE with her hair this color, and I think it is the icing on the cake of this look. I don’t think I would’ve cared for this on practically anyone else, but she’s so quirky and cool, that she totally gets away with it!

    • Alina December 16, 2013 at 19:06 #

+1! I really like it too!

      • Serenity December 16, 2013 at 21:55 #

Thank God I’m not the ONLY one!!

I was delighted to see this dress because it’s so reminiscent of the 40s movie gowns that I love so much. It may be a bit aging for Kristen, but I’m really glad she wore it anyway.

  16. Prudence December 16, 2013 at 19:18 #

this is highly confusing, prada gowns are so hit and miss and mostly end up on the miss side.

  17. Leo December 16, 2013 at 19:34 #

Prada does ugly couture. I’m with you, not a fan of what comes from there. And this is just another level of tragic, one of the most ill fitting, over bedazzled messes I’ve seen all year.

  18. easyBlake December 16, 2013 at 22:13 #

Hmm, I usually like costumey looks. I think if the salmon part of the dress was a different color and the fit of the sleeves was tighter, I would like this. I know her makeup look from this premiere was featured, but I think it’s less than good, esp. combined with her strained smile.

  19. Monde December 16, 2013 at 22:16 #

Way to forget about Nicole Kidman’s recent Prada gown, FC!

As for this, it’s a big no. My eyes don’t know where to go.

  20. the ogre December 17, 2013 at 17:12 #

Oh! I’m just pained by the fact that this is not all grey. How I wish it was! The embroidery is gorgeous, in my opinion. Even though the salmon is a bit of an oddity out here, Kristen carries this dress off quite well. It’s tricky and she does tricky well.

  21. Courtney Grace December 20, 2013 at 00:38 #

I’m pretty sure this is in the top 3 of the ugliest dresses ever.
