Rooney Mara In Lanvin – Oxfam Charity Gala

Rooney Mara In Lanvin - Oxfam Charity Gala

Rooney Mara attended the Oxfam Charity Gala during day six of the 10th Annual Dubai International Film Festival, held at the Armani Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates this evening.

The actress has a strict colour preference: black or white.

Now I’m the first to wish she would side step out of this comfort-zone, but she looked breath-taking wearing a custom Lanvin one-shoulder gown inspired by the Resort 2014 collection.

The streamline gown, with a slight flared hem, features a sculptural layered neckline of architectural brilliance we expect from Alber Elbaz.

Working the deepest berry lip shade we’ve seen yet, she completed her look with a signature slick back bun.

This is one of my favourite looks from Rooney. This gown is going play havoc on my BDOTY list.

This might be the best she has ever looked.
Not on my BDOTY list, but def. a worthy BDOTW contender.

Actually, i think the green version loses all the drama, the white one paired with the dark lip looks amazing. Loving this!

    • Marta December 11, 2013 at 20:13 #

Agree – stunning! BDOTY category most def.

    • bunny December 12, 2013 at 00:40 #

      agreed!

    • Francois Bresmal December 12, 2013 at 09:31 #

I couldn’t agree more! She joined my BDOTY list as well I’m stunned by this sculptural gown!

  3. Nat39 December 11, 2013 at 19:48 #

YES! I adore the bold crisp sculptural drama, it’s impressive in bright rich green, but I don’t mind it in clean white either, the gown fits her to perfection. Not entirely sold on the lip colour – a bit too dark and doesn’t seem to suit her that well. But the gown is outstanding, without a doubt, a strong BDOTW contender.

I would even put it on my bestdressed of the year list! I hear angels singing!

    • Teri December 12, 2013 at 03:38 #

      Agree! stunning

  5. AnnaLee December 11, 2013 at 19:56 #

GORGEOUS! Even though I would also like to see her in a bright color, this is STUNNING! BDOTW and maybe BDOTY…

  6. Tina December 11, 2013 at 19:58 #

Ohhhhh when I first saw this my break was taken away. Beautiful beautiful gown, super sleek looking and the architectural details are wonderful. I’m still on the fence about the dark lip but the gown is mesmerizing.

  7. mg December 11, 2013 at 20:01 #

pretty nice, but def not BDOTY worhty

  8. Magdalena December 11, 2013 at 20:07 #

J’adore. And I do think it’s BDOTY worthy.

  9. sara December 11, 2013 at 20:08 #

She looks amazing, but I think I’ll be in the minority by saying I WISH she had worn the emerald lookbook version! I think that color would have been stunning against her porcelain skin and dark features.

    • Suz December 11, 2013 at 21:04 #

Totally agree with you. This is a nice dress, but if she had worn the green (and with better makeup, in my opinion), then I would have been really impressed.

    • Serenity December 11, 2013 at 21:11 #

I thought the same, at first, but I think the white is more dramatic. Either way, it’s a wonderful, architectural, yet feminine look for her. Although, I do wish the lip weren’t quite so dark.

    • Fiona - Perth December 12, 2013 at 06:21 #

I also think she would have looked stunning in the green, but the white does look so sculptural and angelic it works beautifully. It fits perfectly too, since she is so small that is not always easy to not lose the proportions. I’d love to see her out of her black/white uniform for once though…

  10. Noemi December 11, 2013 at 20:12 #

She looks absolutely stunning, maybe her best look together with the Givenchy at the Met Gala this year.

  11. Noemi December 11, 2013 at 20:14 #

But if I look at the close up I must say that she’s not wearing the best color of foundation…

  12. Yeliz December 11, 2013 at 20:22 #

LOVE this gown. It’s a masterpiece. Totally love it. Sadly, I’m not a fan of the lip colour, therefore this is BDOTW but not BDOTY worthy for me.

  13. Mariah December 11, 2013 at 20:32 #

I still miss the fingerless elbow length gloves , the thigh high split in the skirt and green pitton over the knee boots. And bows… i just love bows.

  14. Carrie December 11, 2013 at 20:33 #

    Jaw dropping! Gorgeous.

  15. AnderBoBo December 11, 2013 at 20:40 #

Stunning! Easily better than anything she wore during the Dragon promo!

  16. dee December 11, 2013 at 20:42 #

Fabulous dress on her but I wish she wore it in green for a change of pace. BDOTW contender anyway.

  17. Anne December 11, 2013 at 21:17 #

Adore the dress, and actually prefer it in white (it’s like a statue!). But, the makeup is atrocious and detracts from my love of the gown.

  18. Marybeth December 11, 2013 at 21:26 #

I absolutely love the dress and she wears it well.
The make-up, alas, brings the look down.

  19. Dhppy December 11, 2013 at 22:22 #

Oooh! This is good. This is really good.

  20. Relae December 11, 2013 at 22:28 #

Breathtaking gown!!! She looks so statuesque, at least BDOTW worthy!

  21. Xiomalys Crespo December 11, 2013 at 22:49 #

    BDOTY? Really?

This kind of falls flat to me. I would have loved to see the green on her.

    • Prudencr December 12, 2013 at 01:02 #

thank you! I mean this is nice but it does not have me jumping up and down. The green would have looked so much better on her and for once she would be doing something different. She is such a bore with her black and white dressing

      • Cindy December 12, 2013 at 04:25 #

        Totally agree!!!!

  22. Kathy December 12, 2013 at 02:22 #

My jaw nearly dropped. It’s a great look, for sure, but the fact that it’s Rooney wearing it makes it even better (just because she’s hit-and-miss on the red carpet and not the most confident actress out there). Easily one of her best to date. I can’t even express in words how pleasantly surprised I am.

  23. pinksugar December 12, 2013 at 04:05 #

I’ve adored this dress from the minute I saw it and I am so glad to see it out of editorials and finally on the red carpet. While I do wish it were the gorgeous green shade the white is lovely. My only complaint is the one I always have with Rooney. She needs to not look so shell shocked and lose that awful lip color.

  24. kane December 12, 2013 at 18:36 #

I +1 pretty much everyone above. It’s back to the usual dark hair/berry lip/white dress, but you can’t see this Rooney formula enough if it looks as breath-taking as here.

  25. Alex V December 12, 2013 at 22:48 #

Her foundation is lighter than her skintone, I don’t like it paired with that dark lipstick. Yeah, this goes again to you Selena.

  26. anonymous as always December 13, 2013 at 16:39 #

I have a huge girl crush on her since her role at “the girl with the dragon tattoo” and at times like this one I remember why.

  27. Ash December 13, 2013 at 19:01 #

dress is amazing! almost perfect look but girl, pls, lose your dark lip color.

  28. Moxie December 13, 2013 at 22:16 #

Gorgeous dress, but not a fan of that dark lipstick. Too goth.
