Laura Carmichael In Richard Nicoll – ‘Downton Abbey’ Season 4 Cast Photocall

Laura Carmichael In Richard Nicoll - 'Downton Abbey' Season Four Cast Photocall

Laura Carmichael attended the ‘Downton Abbey’ Season Four cast photocall held at the Millennium Hotel in New York City yesterday evening.

The actress wore a Richard Nicoll Fall 2013 strapless midnight-blue dress with a crocodile-effect finish and a sheer bottom panel for a look that’s both modern and elegant.

We are seeing a lot of these sheer-hem dresses on the red carpet lately. It’s a trend I didn’t see coming, but celebs have really embraced it and I’m sure we will see the trend continue into the new year.

Teaming her outfit with Mary Jane pumps (which counter the modernity of the look for me), she amped up the vamp appeal of the look with smoky eyes and sleek straight tresses.

I am not liking the sheer hen trend. Wish it would end.

I prefer the runway sandals with this dress I think. It’s not exciting, but it seems to fit her style.

I like the dress but not the shoes.

I like the dress and that it’s not just a typical sheer panel at the bottom of a black dress but there is a transitioning crocodile-effect finish, it does look pretty, simple, modern and elegant. The Mary Janes aren’t working for me here either, but it’s a good look otherwise.

I agree regarding the hem and the croc effect, but I don’t really mind the shoes. After all, at least she’s not wearing her go-to Christopher Kane boots.
