Amy Adams In Elie Saab – ‘American Hustle’ New York Screening

Amy Adams In Elie Saab - 'American Hustle' New York Screening 2

Amy Adams brought her A game, as expected, to the ‘American Hustle’ screening held at Ziegfeld Theater in New York City on Sunday evening.

Giving us our third Elie Saab lace-accented gown of the evening – following Nina Dobrev and Anna Kendrick – Amy’s black gown was selected from the Spring 2014 collection.

Her high-neck, open-back, sleeveless frock was styled with Neil Lane jewels and Christian Louboutin heels, with a black hairband keeping her glossy locks behind her shoulders.
Should she have worn her hair up?

Can’t shake the terrible hairband. Might’ve worked on the runway but not on Amy.

The headband is bad, but the dress and fit is perfection. Maybe a darker lip would have added some oomph.

What I hate about the headband is the way it looks like it was there for the make-up session, and they forgot to remove it.

I had singled this dress out when I was going through the Spring 2014 collections. So glad to see it on someone like Adams. She is doing it justice.

I am sorry but I simply cannot forgive the zigzag hairband. It’s just not what I thought she would wear with such an elegant Elie Saab dress. Otheriwse, the dress fits her beautifully and on anyone else I would have not liked this at all. But the hairband really disappoints me. If she really did want to wear one she could have gone for a sleeker one. The zigzag is too prominent. I didn’t even wear this in school.

This is indeed a gorgeous look but gosh the woman is freezing. Her arms look purple. She should be wearing a coat. Is feeling cold fashionable now?

Idk I need someone with more of a presence to pull this off. Its so boring and okay on her.

I love this from head-to-toe. It’s BDOTW worthy for me.

She definitely dug WAY in the back of her closet for that zig zag headband, but I actually don’t mind it. Her body is killer here and the dress itself is the best peekaboo style I’ve seen in awhile- in the wrong hands with the wrong styling, this could have come across as sleazy instead of sophisticated.

Fab fit once again. Hope she gets back to wearing color, though.

+1. Hair looks too casual for this dress. A headband…really???

  12. dee December 9, 2013 at 14:46 #

Not bad. I am neutral on the headband.

This is a very sexy dress but the headband goes against that feel as does the lackluster lips. With those 2 changes this would’ve been a perfect look.

I just love this look, A+ from me

Me too! It’s so classy. And I think the hair down keeps it from being too dark. The contrast is lovely.

As for the hair, nice try, Amy, haha. I’m on the fence when it comes to the dress, but I have to say the hour glass-effect in that particular shot of the model does it for me.

What is she wearing in her hair ?
It looks like a headband I was wearing in school 20 almost 20 years ago !
Plus, I don’t like the dress so this is a NO for me.

Omg yes to the headband comment! So many bad 90s memories: I was wearing it in junior high school (15 years ago) and it’s definitely not one of the looks I’m most proud of! I can’t believe someone would wear it on the red carpet.
However, I don’t hate the dress.

      • Serenity December 9, 2013 at 23:49 #

I concur with both statements^^!!! I literally can’t believe my eyes. I wore those zig-zag headbands in junior high too–when I woke up too late to was my hair! What was she/her hairstylist thinking?!

As to the rest of the look, I hate to say it, but this is really one of my least favorite Elie Saab dresses ever! She still looks beautiful, no doubt. It fits her to perfection, and her makeup is stunning. I’m just a little deflated after reading ‘Amy Adams in Elie Saab’, and then seeing this. Not quite what I was expecting…

I don’t mind the hair. She looks beautiful, but I think something is missing. Maybe a red/pink lippie.

Much better than her last look.
