What I Wore To The British Fashion Awards

British Fashion Awards

Last night I attended the 2013 British Fashion Awards held at the London Coliseum.

I had the pleasure of seeing all the guests arrive, with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley providing the jaw-dropping moment of the night.

Even though temperatures were well below freezing, many celebs arrived without a coat, taking time to pose for pictures and chat to the media.

Despite having the shortest dress, Alexa Chung spent the longest time talking to the press, but she did have a coat on standby for those interviews which weren’t being videoed.

The other wow moment of the night came courtesy of Gwyneth Paltrow, who I saw in the press room. This was the first time I had seen her in person and she’s even more beautiful in real life. I was also quite taken aback by how tall she is, as I tend to tower over most celebs.

My favourite person to speak to on the night was Rita Ora. I asked her about her famous red lip, which was a shade from her upcoming collection with Rimmel. She said that she loves to wear a red lip because it makes her feel glamorous, sexy and confident and that now she feels naked without it.

The funniest moment is when I got tongue-tied speaking to Clémence Poésy. She burst into a fit of giggles and couldn’t shake it off for take two of our interview.

On the night, I was inspired by Stacy Keibler’s Michael Kors Monaco look, so I styled my Topshop floral ballskirt with a sleeveless knit top, keeping the look British with Kurt Geiger London shoes in a Bordeaux hue with a matching DVF clutch.

I love your hair and makeup. The clutch and sandals are really nicely combined with the rest of the outfit. Plus, I really like that you didn’t wear any expensive clothes, because fashion is about finding the right combinations, and not only about buying/wearing brands.

Girl you look fabulous! Am shocked that this was Topshop. It looks designer! You really know how to carry a dress. 🙂

    • Catherine Kallon December 3, 2013 at 16:31 #

thanks…nearly everyone I told last night that the skirt was Topshop was shocked.

  23. LeeAnn December 3, 2013 at 12:59 #

This is a stunning variation on Dior. I hope you don’t mind me saying this and it might be because I know the original well but did you think about wearing something underneath to give the skirt a bit of volume?
    You look beautiful

    • Catherine Kallon December 3, 2013 at 16:30 #

Thank you…I didn’t think about that. Looking back the skirt did need more volume.

I will bear that in mind the next time I wear it.

  24. Babaroga December 3, 2013 at 12:50 #

this is an amazing look and you looked way better than most of the stars that evening.

  25. larissa December 3, 2013 at 12:34 #

I guess it’s a compliment to your style that my first thought when I saw your outfit, before reading the commentary or seeing the title, was that you were wearing Dior. I was honestly shocked to read it is Topshop. Not that there’s anything wrong with topshop. It must have been great to meet all those celebs at the awards last night. It wouldd have been interesting to hear more from Rita Ora about her makeup choices, for example what’s up with the foundation?

    • Catherine Kallon December 3, 2013 at 12:51 #

      LOL…I wish.

I would need to win the lottery x

It was really great meeting the celebs…they were all really down to earth.
