Emily Mortimer In Peter Som – PowerWomen 2013 Awards

Emily Mortimer In Peter Som - PowerWomen 2013 Awards

Emily Mortimer uncharacteristically showed off a bit of leg on the red carpet while attending the PowerWomen 2013 Awards in New York City yesterday evening.

Her Peter Som Spring 2014 short-sleeved tee-shirt dress with a vivid blue print and navy grosgrain waistband is a funkier, more youthful look than we’ve seen from her in the past.

However, the styling lets her down. The gold clutch gets a pass; however, her Jimmy Choo pointy-toe pumps don’t.

Had she worn an open-toe sandal – she is showing off so much leg, after all – the look would’ve worked better for me.

Never understood why celebs wear pumps with a thigh-high slit.

Yeah the shoes are wrong with this dress. The dress is pretty on her.

I agree. Also, I really like the light makeup.

The dress looks so good on her, the colour, the fit, and I like the contrasting coral lippie. The pumps aren’t the best choice but they don’t ruin the look.

This isn’t my style, but for some reason it feels like totally hers to me, so it’s alright.

I totally agree with you about the sandals, but can you tell me your theory about why a pump not being pared with a thigh-high slit? Thanks Catherine!

I honestly kind of love this look. It’s pretty and flattering. While black wouldn’t have been my first choice in shoes, the pumps don’t bother me. Pumps to me are pure classy comfort so they match the vibe of the dress and hair. The whole look is pretty, flattering, has some personality in the color choices, and looks like it would be a breeze to sit through a random awards dinner in.
