Lena Dunham In Theory by Olivier Theyskens – Glamour Magazine Women Of The Year 2013

Lena Dunham In Theory by Olivier Theyskens - Glamour Magazine Women Of The Year 2013

Lena Dunham joined a host of stars on the red carpet last night for Glamour’s 23rd annual Women of the Year awards in New York City.

To put it mildly, the ‘Girls’ actress is not your favourite red carpet starlet.

In fact, some of you have asked why I continue to feature her, and that’s because I think one day she will wow us.

While that moment didn’t come last night, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked her custom Theory by Olivier Theyskens multi-layered black-and-silver plaid gown, which nipped in her waist and, despite the sheerness, wasn’t too revealing.

I see a huge improvement in the hair and makeup too. So like I said before… baby steps. I think she’s actually starting to play the game.

This is decent compared to her other looks but this is still nothing special

    • Alina November 12, 2013 at 15:44 #

      +1

This would have been a better (still not good, but better) look if it would’ve fit better around the bust area. As you said, baby steps.

I do agree about the hair and make-up. Quite lovely, and brings out her eyes.

Hair and make up look fab, but again, terrible choice in clothes. She has such a weird shape but she never dresses for it.

“One day she will wow us”, Fashion Critic you’re beyond optimistic… a dreamer I would say ;-)

I think you are right, but the day it happens, expect an ‘I do you so’ comment from me ;)

I really don’t like this dress. It makes her looks larger than what she is. I ony like her makeup. Her hair is just OK.

    • Yeliz November 12, 2013 at 18:50 #

      Ditto.

This look is bad, like a bag of potatos.

Her make up is nice i guess.

I like it. The bodice is a bit long for her, but if the waistband is shirring, maybe it’s meant to blouse a bit. Anyway, it’s a nice step. On the other hand, I don’t care for this hairstyle.

It’s okay but still dumpy. Why can’t they figure out how to dress this girl? It’s not like she’s got a body that’s impossible to dress, i just don’t get it…

  10. petra November 12, 2013 at 17:13 #

I love the dress. The fit is not that good, sure, but with the right attitude it would’ve been an amazing look.

  11. kane November 12, 2013 at 18:37 #

    A good look for her.

  12. CTgirl November 12, 2013 at 19:31 #

Goodness, this is a lumpy mess. Larger girls with little definition to their curves shouldn’t wear flimsy fabrics that only add visual weight through strange bumpy waistbands. She should be in fabrics with body and structured designs that either create a nipped in waist or provide that illusion. The worst part is that she looked in the mirror and thought, “Damn, I look good.” Tragic.

Dreadful. She looks like a granny. The dress widens, stumpifies and completely overwhelms her.

    • Dani November 12, 2013 at 21:16 #

Agree. Definately not on the same wavelength as you FC, this is a shocker. And there’s no excuse for a fit this bad on a custom gown.

  14. Sophie November 12, 2013 at 21:38 #

Well I actually don’t mind you featuring her, she always makes me laugh!

    (Mini-baby steps only).

  15. sara November 13, 2013 at 00:29 #

Awful… there’s nothing I like about her choices. This dress is ill-fitting and makes her look unshapely. Hair is blah, make-up is just okay. Boring shoes and accessories. She can do so much better but im not sure ill care to keep watching her. Its almost like she doesn’t WANT to dress well.

  16. kinella November 13, 2013 at 09:57 #

eek, so bad: it makes her look wider and older.

at times like these you need a real friend to tell you: no girl, go change!

    cant she hire a stylist?

  17. Marilyn November 13, 2013 at 10:09 #

Like Zosia Mamet, her posture makes a bad outfit even worse!

  18. Evil Britta November 13, 2013 at 10:49 #

I think she looks great, compared to previous looks. She doesn’t have to be all corseted, cleavage and curves to be good.

  19. charlotte November 15, 2013 at 13:16 #

Lena really needs to work on her posing skills.
I mean, look at her, how sloppy and tired is that!
