Coco Rocha In Moschino & Kate Upton In Nina Ricci - VRC Oaks Club Luncheon

Coco Rocha and Kate Upton donned their finest hats for the VRC Oaks Club Luncheon held at the Crown Palladium on Wednesday afternoon in Melbourne, Australia.

Coco Rocha: After donning some fashion-forward headpieces over the last few days, this one was quite conservative by her standards. The black Philip Treacy hat, angled to one side, was worn with a Moschino Pre-Fall 2013 look featuring a black embellished jacket and skirt and a cream blouse.

Kate Upton: Wearing a similar, yet smaller, hat to Coco, Kate worked an uptown-girl look wearing a cream Nina Ricci stretch wool-blend crepe jacket and matching skirt with cream Jimmy Choo ‘Xenia’ sandals and a red Chanel bag. I’m not fond of the accessories; they let down what could’ve been a great look. You may remember that Nicole Kidman has already worn the suit and Olivia Palermo has donned the jacket. So how does this look work for you the third time out?

I’m loving Coco’s look. Kate however, yeesh. This suit is not her style and the accessories have nothing to do with each other.

not a fan of either…and coco looks way too thin making her look gaunt. neither is selling me their looks.

I like both looks, but Coco is really selling it for me. She looks like she’s having a lot of fun with her look.

Coco’s hat is Philip Treacy. 🙂

I’m enjoying all of her Melbourne Cup looks, even if they are a little like dress up.

I think you nailed it. Kate’s accessories are wrong. I like the suit, but there should be some kind of cohesiveness in the accessories and they all just seem sort of random, black hat, nude shoes, reddish purse. I think black shoes would have worked better or a different hat. Something to tie it all together and make it work.

Coco reminds me of a matador. Kate looks okay, even though the outfit as whole is way too busy. And there is no competing with Nicole.

Agree on “matador” and “no competing with Nicole”.

I had the same reaction to Coco, it feels a lot like dress up. But she pulls it off.

Kate, however, hmm… it certainly doesn’t help that Nicole wore this esemble in such a polished, elegant way, but this only heightens what’s clearly visible anyway: Kate’s take on it is quite a cluttered mess.

I prefer both of these looks in the lookbook version.
