Mollie King In Gucci – Harper’s Bazaar Woman Of The Year Awards 2013

Mollie King In Gucci - Harper’s Bazaar Woman Of The Year Awards 2013

Mollie King attended the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards held at Claridges Hotel in London yesterday evening alongside Victoria Beckham, Rita Ora and Cate Blanchett.

The Saturdays singer is usually the better dresser of all the girls, but on this occasion I’m totally perplexed by her look.

While I love her Gucci Fall 2013 contrast-print houndstooth and Prince-of-Wales-check dress with a sexy black neck panel, this dress couldn’t be more wrong for her.

Yes, she has every right to experiment outside the what-is-expected-of-a-girl-band Topshop, AQ/AQ and Three Floor mini frocks, but this dress would look better on a grown woman.

By that I mean a Jessica Chastain, Nicole Kidman or Cate Blanchett; they possess the poise and confidence to carry this look.

On Mollie it ages her, drastically, but I appreciate the effort.

A sweeping updo and Gucci ‘Lili’ sandals completed her look.

Its amazing how it looks so much better on the model!

The sheer netted insert is tacky and the rest of the dress is so heavy. She looks very awkward in it.

  • Rebecca Z

Ugh. So dark and not flattering on her.

It is a difficult look to pull off – the only person I feel came close is Indian actress Kangana Ranut and even then there are issues with the styling.

    No…

  • Malinda Jane

I think this could’ve worked if she’d shortened the length of the skirt – I think that’s what’s making it read as a more “mature” look. Also, a more flirty fun hairstyle would’ve helped.

Don’t like this. The dress doesn’t give her a defined waist.

  • Christine

    This is terrible

  • Yeliz

This is unflattering and aging. I don’t have anything else to say about this look.

    • Tess

+1 And I don’t like the lenght on her.
