Dita Von Teese In Aurelio Costarella – Melbourne Cup Day

Dita Von Teese In Aurelio Costarella - Melbourne Cup Day

Dita von Teese joined Coco Rocha and Kate Waterhouse in Australia on Tuesday for Melbourne Cup Day.

The burlesque star is no stranger to a dramatic fashion statement, and this orchid-adorned headpiece from her friend, master UK milliner Philip Treacy, certainly gave her a leg up on the head-turning front.

To keep on with the summery aesthetic, Dita wore a crisp, form-fitted white jacket (also detailed with orchids at the shoulder) and a knee-length pencil skirt set, both by Australian designer Aurelio Costarella. Her matching purple orchid-hued lace corset peeked through, offering the perfect colour complement to the outfit’s floral theme.

Somehow, for some reason, I like it.

Apart from the shoes, This is really gorgeous. Love the flower detailing on the jacket and the hat. She made it work!

I admit her style is kind of lost on me, but the flowers are beautiful and she certainly plays a consistent role pretty flawlessly.

I adore this! As one who travels around the world for various horse races, I can say that this is racing fashion done right! And I LOVE the Philip Treacy hat. He’s my milliner too. In fact, I wore a custom piece from him this weekend at a US race.

Which brings me to a soapbox issue of mine… International racing fashion far exceeds that which we see here in the US! American ladies need to step up their racing fashion.

    Wow! Dita looks fantastic

    Phillip Treacy is Irish.

Everyone else would look ridiculous… she looks fabulous.

I love this–the concept, the style, the colours, the shoes a little less. Having said this, with the flower applications on the shoulder the vertical headpiece is just overkill.

  12. Nat39 November 5, 2013 at 18:54 #

    Perfection, she is spectacular.

  13. Pati November 5, 2013 at 19:05 #

This is perfection. She’s always flawless.

I am over-the-moon, in love with this!! Dita is already one of my very favorite fashion plates, so it comes as no surprise to me that I am just gobsmacked by this beauty! The crisp, sculptural, white suit paired with the romantic lace and flowers in such a stunning, flattering color, to me, is just heavenly. Her flawless hair and makeup, as always, assists in bringing this dynamic look full circle–especially that deep, matte lipcolor. Now the shoes certainly could have been better, but they, in no way, spoil this lovely look. I can die happy.

    BDOTW!!!!!!!!

Beautiful until the tacky corset. If that were a simple scoopneck blouse in orchid this would be on my BDOTY list. The fascinator is a dream.

    Love, love, love!

  17. Pam November 5, 2013 at 21:35 #

The work is gorgeous, but I still prefer a hat that actually sits on your head.

  18. Dhppy November 5, 2013 at 21:38 #

I can’t believe I’d ever say this but, I don’t like Dita’s shoes. The hat, however, it how a Derby is done.

  19. rebecca o November 5, 2013 at 23:50 #

I think she looks stunning. That hat is amazing. The orchids are beautiful.

  20. Cass November 6, 2013 at 00:19 #

Can’t seem to take my eyes off. One of the best from her yet.

  21. Namel November 6, 2013 at 01:18 #

I don’t like the detail on the shoulder and i find the earrings pointless.Despite that i like it.

  22. micheline November 6, 2013 at 01:44 #

    Really beautiful and unique!

  23. lin November 6, 2013 at 04:39 #

She looks great. Not sure if the shoes are completely flat, but good on her for choosing comfort when spending the whole day on her feet!

  24. Valissa November 6, 2013 at 04:52 #

Wow!! This is exactly what Cup fashion should look like! She looks fantastic!! I love everything from head to toe!!

  26. msd November 6, 2013 at 06:27 #
