Kat Dennings In Vintage Lanvin – ‘Thor: The Dark World’ World Premiere

Kat Dennings In Vintage Lanvin - 'Thor The Dark World' World Premiere

Kat Dennings joined Natalie Portman on the red carpet at the Odeon Leicester Square for the world premiere of ‘Thor: The Dark World’ in London yesterday evening.

The actress showcased her gorgeous figure wearing a vintage Lanvin strapless gown with a black velvet asymmetrically cut top half and an ivory satin underskirt.

My issue with this dress is that the top was heavier than the bottom half, so at times the ivory part looked a crumpled mess under the weight of the top half.

For me the gown was too complicated. Had it been just a black velvet gown, this would’ve worked so much better for her.

Stunning girl, unflattering dress. They probably run out of velvet…

I can see your point about the heaviness, but I actually quite like this and can’t see anything too complicated about the look. She’s styled it perfectly with a simple red lip and the first picture provides a very forgiving background by the standards of a red carpet in front of the usual wall of sponsors.

My words exactly! I don’t think this dress is complicated at all as it’s only two fabrics/two colors. And I love the simple styling.

I agree. I think this is wonderful on her

I love the contrast between the colours and fabric, the red lips are perfect. The hair is fine, plays up the romantic costume feel just wish the waves were slightly more elegant.

I agree, I think she looks lovely. Funnily enough I also think the dress works well with the background, the torn up red carpet, etc.

Completely agree. Nothing complex about this look. In fact, it look simple and very romantic. The velvet gives the dress a luxurious weight while the satin skirt keeps it light. It has a nice yin yang effect.

Add me to the list! She has a tricky figure to dress, and this is one of her best , IMO. She looks gorgeous!

Eeeek! I like it, actually. :D

I actually think the dress is gorgeous…she’s just not the right person to wear it. She tried and she almost pulled it off but something just seems off…

I don’t like this gown at all. I agree that the top looks heavier than the bottom half, but my biggest issue is the fit around the bust area, it’s so off.

  6. Christine October 23, 2013 at 12:44 #

Wow! This gown is not doing her any favors. Not a great gown to begin with but this is not good.

  7. dee October 23, 2013 at 13:48 #

The gown isn’t terrible but she could have chose something better to wear. But she is gorgeous neck up.

I couldn’t disgree more, I have no words to describe how gorgeous she looks, her skin, hair, lips, perfection!

  9. Alina October 23, 2013 at 17:05 #

    I actually like it.

I hate this look. Vintage has to flawless for me to love. This doesn’t fit her nor does it look amazing

  11. Nat39 October 23, 2013 at 19:44 #

My instant thought – the top velvet part is way too heavy for the bottom half, I completely agree, it basically falls on the ivory part that looks wrinkly and unattractive and simply does not support the weight of the velvet. This isn’t working for me either.

The hair is a mess.. The gown is beautiful but I prefer it in a taller woman..

    • jokebetweenthetrees October 24, 2013 at 02:08 #

I love the hair! A bit messy, low on accesories. That’s what makes it great.

I also love it. I think she looks stunning (albeit without seeing the interplay of fabrics when the dress is in motion).

I had an Angelina Jolie dejavu from the academy awards

    • EmmaWoodhouse October 25, 2013 at 15:41 #

Yes, I can see this. It’s better than that dress but the ivory is not working here. Actually the whole thing isn’t really working for me.
