M.I.A. x Versus

wearepurple-mia-donatella-versaceVersus has always had an undeniably cool attitude built on the house of Versace’s legacy.

Creative director Donatella describes it as follows: “Versus Versace is like a revolution in fashion. It takes the DNA of Versace, and makes something completely new. Versus Versace is the future, and it’s only just beginning.”

For its latest collection the brand has collaborated with singer M.I.A. and based its prints on those of ‘Versace’ fakes found on market stalls.

“It’s always been part of the M.I.A. culture – to talk about bootlegs, and people that sell them or make them” the singer said, “So when I was approached by Versace, it just seemed like a good idea to take all that and reverse the cycle, get Versace to copy the bootleggers. And then for the bootleggers to copy Versace copying the bootleggers, and just to keep that cycle going. It was just to basically reconnect the cycle in a way that is, I think, only possible through what I can offer Versace in the collaboration. So it was about bringing the concept of M.I.A. and the concept of Versace together.”

The collection features a street-style inspired line of graphic prints. Gold medallions, the Greek key and the Versace logo are all blown up for a colourful fall outing.

You can shop pieces from the collection, including jersey dresses, leggings, T-shirts, a maxi dress, a backpack and sneakers, exclusively at Browns Fashion now in both womenswear and menswear.
