Carey Mulligan In Christian Dior – ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ London Film Festival Premiere

Carey Mulligan In Christian Dior - 'Inside Llewyn Davis' London Film Festival Premiere

Carey Mulligan took to the red carpet this evening for the ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ London Film Festival premiere held at the Odeon Leicester Square.

You will have to search back as far a May to find Carey Mulligan wearing a vibrant hue, so I was delighted she selected something outside of her black, nude, blush, and white comfort zone on this rare occasion.

She wore a Christian Dior yellow matte silk and wool crepe cocktail dress with contoured seams on the bodice which she styled with black Dior pumps.

The second bit of good news is that her makeup artist is no longer M.I.A. as Carey (the star who kicked started the barely-there makeup trend) sported a lush raspberry lip shade.

No jewels, just a simple wavy bun completed her look.

Do you love the look or can you not ignore her footwear selection as I have chosen to?

While there are some definite tweaks I’d make, this is hands-down the best she’s looked in ages. So, I’m not even going to nitpick

Nice color but I think she’s too boring now

    I love this!
Yes – it’s simple styling, but sometimes less is more.

Baby steps, but the direction is good.

I really dislike the black pumps with a vibrant dress but ankles up it’s a nice look.

This is not a bad look, actually. Love the makeup finally. Gorgeous yellow color on her! She looks Alive.

“LOVE the makeup finally”. My thoughts exactly. I think she reads our comments!!! Keep it up Carey !

Yay! She looks stunning! This shade of yellow really suits her skin tone and the dress flatters her with the form-fitting bodice and loose skirt. Maybe some jewellry would have completed the look. That shade of lipstick with hair colour is really working for her. I don’t even mind the shoes.

I preferred when she dressed more whimsically but if the minimal look is the direction she’s moving towards then so be it, she’s classy as ever. I just hope we see her in more colour!

Boring even with the vibrant yellow colour and bright lip, her presentation is dull – if not necklace then perhaps a belt and a clutch, some subtle jewels and more inspiring footwear wouldn’t hurt.

    missing a necklace.
other than that it’s a good look. Finally could see some color on Carey!

she needs to get away from ryan hastings. the man can pick good dresses most of the time, but he’s awful at styling his clients.

with that being said, glad she’s wearing color and make-up again.

I prefer her blonde.. I think the dress would look so much better on her!

  12. Nadine October 15, 2013 at 22:14 #

    What footwear?

  13. Rebecca Z October 15, 2013 at 21:22 #

I like the shoes but not with this dress. I would have liked something–a necklace or earrings to provide some visual interest above the bodice of the dress. I don’t love this yellow on her. All of that said, I like the way she looks–but it is not fabulous.

Actually the shoes don’t bother me that much. She looks gorgeous, yellow suits her.

Thank you, Carey!! I looove this look, oh that dynamic color! Be still my heart! She didn!t just give us a pop of color, she gave us a POW of color. Proving what we all already know, that she is not living up to her RC potential. I totally don’t even mind the shoes I am so thrilled!

Happily, I will ignore the shoes..she looks the best I’ve seen in a while!

Thank God. She really has so much more at her disposal, shame she doesn’t ever seem to want to make use of it. I wonder why she doesn’t smile anymore 🙁

Love the dress, love the shoes, love the styling, love it all!

  18. Emmeline October 15, 2013 at 20:41 #

This is such an improvement, I love seeing her in color again! I’ll cross my fingers that it continues.

I would have loved a statement necklace–maybe pearls–and shimmering sandals, but the dress and her hair, makeup and attitude are all a strong step in the direction of the sweet, winsome star whose style we loved.

Nice sandals and a pair of small earrings. That’s all this look needed.

+1 but still, she’s finally wearing some colour.
