Rita Wilson In Tom Ford – ‘Captain Phillips’ London Film Festival Premiere

Rita Wilson In Tom Ford - 'Captain Phillips' London Film Festival Premiere

Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson attended the European premiere of ‘Captain Phillips’ on the opening night of the 57th BFI London Film Festival held at Odeon Leicester Square this evening.

Both wearing black, Tom opted for a classic tux, while Rita’s look had a bit more Ka-Pow.

Taking the Helen Mirren ‘dress-as-young-as-you-feel’ approach, the actress wore black Tom Ford Fall 2013 long sleeve gown with a striking multi-coloured ‘Flash! Bang! Wallop!’ sequin motif on the hip.

A simple ponytail and a black-and-white clutch completed her look.

I know many of you don’t share my enthusiasm for Rita’s red carpet style; so how does this one fare for you?

I think it’s just a really ugly dress.

      Very fug.

      I agree.

Oooh Come on, if Cate Blanchet wear this everybody be like: “Oh long life to the Queen” “BDOTY”, this is a really nice dress, it’s black but fun with and plus. I really really like this!

Bad writing. I did it while driving S:

Totally agree – I think she looks great and took a risk.

Love the hair and the clutch and Tom looks great in a classic tux. The dress, not so much, although tie-dye on the red carpet is daring…

I think she looks great. Why shouldn’t a woman of her age wear Tom Ford? I hope it’s as comfy as it looks.

I think she looks lovely! You can tell she just has fun with what she wears, and I love that she’s not afraid to try something different.

I for one will never forget her in that Prada dress at the 2010 Emmy’s. You’ve got to love a woman who’s not afraid to go there.

this is a real question: is she pregnant? I don’t know if it’s the angle but she looks pregnant in the pic

    • Malinda Jane October 9, 2013 at 22:19 #

      She’s 56 years old…

      • amy October 10, 2013 at 11:41 #

I didn’t know. I thought she was in her late forties

It’s not my favorite look ever, but it is cute and I give her kudos for wearing it. I don’t wear a lot of things that bring attention to my hips and she and I are probably about the same age. She looks chic and comfortable and happy–what more can you ask?

    • Banx October 9, 2013 at 22:59 #

You said it better than I did before and I’m all for trying new things, I just don’t think the Ka-Pow! element works.

She looks great If she’s 56.
There is nothing to brag about the dress, didn’t like his whole fall collection for lack of sophistication.

Rita’s makeup and hair looks better than it has in years. I’m not crazy about the dress — a little too Batman for me — but she looks happy wearing it.

    Thumbs up for me!

I kind of like the dress, but I definitely don’t think it works on her. It’s not her age though, a woman’s age has nothing to do with what she can/can’t wear IMO. It’s more her personality, or presence. Everyone will hate me for this, but I could totally see this on Anna Dello Russo. AND she would be covered up!

Oddly Rita looks really good in this dress. I like it a lot. I think the new Tom Ford found its right customer. I didn’t like any of the Tom Ford collections since his comeback. But as I think about it more, I realize that they’re just not for my taste. Tom Ford today is like a high-end, luxury version of Chico’s (a US store for mature women).
