Lucy Liu In Roberto Cavalli – 2013 PaleyFest: ‘Elementary’ Panel

Lucy Liu In Roberto Cavalli - 'Elementary' Panel

Lucy Liu attended the ‘Elementary’ panel during 2013 PaleyFest: Made In New York at The Paley Center for Media on October 5, 2013 in New York City.

The beautiful actress wore a Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2013 dress which was part herringbone and part vibrant print.

My first reaction was to dislike this look, but this is the classic opulent approach to print and colour that we are used to from Roberto Cavalli. The dress commands attention with the striking baroque design in vibrant tangerine.

Opting for all-black accessories, Lucy carried a Jimmy Choo ‘Charlize’ clutch and wore the popular Saint Laurent ‘Jane’ sandals.

A half-up, half-down hairstyle and flawless makeup provided the finishing touches.

I have a feeling I know the answer to this, but do you love or loathe this look?

This is a perfect panel look. Classic cut but interesting print.
            And I love those sandals.

I love this dress also! She looks great.

  3. Charlotte October 7, 2013 at 14:48 #

I don’t like the dress and I hate the hair !

  4. EmmaWoodhouse October 7, 2013 at 14:53 #

A little loud, though she is doing her best. I think that keeping the belt would have helped.

  5. Rebecca Z October 7, 2013 at 15:18 #

It’s growing on me. I see the appeal, but it certainly won’t work for a lot of people.

    • Yeliz October 7, 2013 at 19:37 #

Agreed. At first glance this dress was a No for me, but now it’s growing on me as well. I don’t like the hair though.

Don’t care for the dress. The sandals look weird with a heavy, fall-like dress.

    • jokebetweenthetrees October 7, 2013 at 15:41 #

Agreed, wrong shoes with this dress

  7. naomie October 7, 2013 at 15:43 #

    I think she looks amazing.
Great hair @ make-up. Love the pattern combo in the dress, this tangerine shade looks great on her.
BDOTW nominee as far as I’m concerned.

I adore this from head to toe.

  9. kane October 7, 2013 at 16:20 #

Feels very heavy and wintery already, but I do like this.

  10. Patricia October 7, 2013 at 16:54 #

    I actually like this.

  11. Hailey October 7, 2013 at 17:06 #

    I actually really like this

  12. kathryn October 7, 2013 at 17:09 #

I love the dress! I am on the fence about the hair its a little fussy for such a complicated & vibrant dress.

  13. Ashlee October 7, 2013 at 18:04 #

I love the dress and appreciate that the styling is kept simple, overall. The hair, on the other hand, feels like it’s competing for attention with the shoulders of the dress — it almost looks like the hair is a weird extension of the dress.

A sweptback ‘do would have complemented and completed the look for me.

This is Cavalli’s take on lady like chic. It’s ok but if I want Lady like there are far more labels that did it better this season

  15. SuzyQ October 7, 2013 at 19:44 #

I love her hair. Maybe a little over-teased, but nice.

The dress is not as heavy as it looks. And it was pretty warm in NYC on Saturday – I’d have gone for sandals too. I think they lighten everything up.

I def. like it, the unexpected bright detailing is beautiful and totally makes the look, and Lucy is great in this look. Thumbs up from me.

  17. asherlev1 October 7, 2013 at 22:23 #

I ADORE THIS. This is a BDOTW nominee for me, hands down!!

  18. TeaAtTwo October 7, 2013 at 23:13 #

I like this. It doesn’t scream Cavalli.

  19. Kathy October 7, 2013 at 23:41 #

LOVE the juxtaposition of patterns. She looks great, though I’m not a huge fan of the hair. It’s a bit too voluminous in the back.

  20. KatieKate October 8, 2013 at 00:39 #

What’s not to love?! I think everything about this is wonderful. Great fall dress, but styled to keep it from looking too stuffy.

  21. Prudence October 8, 2013 at 03:45 #

I dont love or loathe. I am simply bored to death. Why are people getting excited over this?

    • evelyn October 8, 2013 at 04:06 #

I think she could have done better in choosing an outfit for Paley. Her hair looked messy. She looks good when it’s off her face. She has lovely bone structure but you can’t appreciate it when her hair is not done in a style that is becoming to her.

  22. Brianna October 8, 2013 at 07:08 #

I think if it were tailored correctly to her body, this look would have been a home run.

  23. amy October 8, 2013 at 15:47 #

I love the dress! the contrast between the grey and the orange is just so interesting. well done Cavalli

  24. P. Wong October 8, 2013 at 16:32 #

    The dress is hideous.

  25. Aline October 9, 2013 at 13:16 #

I don’t like the dress, but I also don’t hate it. I absolutely love her hair here, though.
