Kristen Wiig In Marchesa - Centerpiece Gala Presentation of 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty'

Kristen Wiig attended the Centerpiece Gala Presentation of ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ during the 51st New York Film Festival held at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City on Saturday evening.

The actress wore a Marchesa Spring 2014 dress with a sheer lace-embroidered top and polka-dot layered skirt.

I’m not a fan of the dress to begin with, and to add to that I don’t think this is the right dress for Kristen; it’s too fussy and princess-like for her laidback, sleek style. She’s weighed down by all that tulle.

This would’ve looked better on Ariel Winter or Marchesa fan Sarah Hyland.

Grey suede Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pumps, Fred Leighton jewels, an updo with face-framing tendrils and a pink lip colour completed her look.

Are you disliking this as much as I do?

I prefer the color of the dress on the runway.
The dress is too long on Kristen, the color is washing her out, the shoes are a wrong choice and the hair are messy !

Here’s my bone – When a dress is tea length (my favourite length) on a model it is obviously not going to be the same length on someone who is far shorter. Why, oh why, do designers/stylists not alter their garments to be the proper length on the woman who wears it on a carpet? I understand some couture garments (this is not technically couture) can’t be altered, but then why bother making them tea length? Oy.

The movie is all about fantasies and perhaps dressing like a fairy godmother was one of hers. I hope she has gotten it out of her system. This dress is so wrong for her and the styling is proof–shoes are hair are a different woman from this dress.

The dress obviously isn’t right for her but she could’ve at least put more effort into styling and tried to carry it sweetly and gracefully. She makes it look even more drab with that lackluster hairstyle and lack of grace and poise.

No, FC, I do not dislike this look as much as you do. I can virtually guarantee that I dislike it more!
